I don't even know if we follow the US standard so lol.
Hmm, well they give you a catalog that has a list of majors/minors, and what classes you need to take to fulfill those majors/minors.
So I knew that to become a teacher, I need to major in "Secondary Education" so I've just been taking classes that are listed there, without declaring a major (cause I'm a lazy a**).
Same with the minors.
I'm taking two minors because if I want to be a Japanese teacher, I need a certain amount of credits (that are classes that are related to Japan some how, and if my advisor says its okay to take them). I need 30 credits, but if I only had one minor, it wouldn't be enough, so I declared another minor.
Luckily, I've already taken most of the classes for both minors, so I'm not behind or anything.
For one class, we usually get like 3 credits. For language classes, we get 4 credits.
For labs, we get 1 credit, plus you usually have to take a class with the lab, which is 3 credits.
At first I majored in Biology because it was easier to get a scholarship that way...
BIG MISTAKE. I failed my first Biology 101 class LOL!
Changed majors right away (or at least requested to change majors).
I actually declared my major this year, my junior year XD
But I've already been taking classes for my major/minors.
College really opened up my mind.
Like, certain classes I took, I'll never regret taking them...My professors were really awesome too!
Philosophy, Psychology, Mass Communication...These classes will forever be loved.
And so will the professors.
I still keep in contact with my mass comm professor smile
