Oh yeah, ask away! Feel free to come to me with any questions or concerns you might have with either the dolls or the community.
I know everything can be overwhelming at first. It's always nice to have someone around for help. I enjoy helping. ^__^
I think it's really good for a collector to acknowledge that there's no bond between herself & a doll. That's just part of the hobby.
There's nothing wrong with holding onto the doll for a while to see if a bond eventually forms. Chances are though, your first instincts are correct.
Oh gosh, never hesitate to sell a doll if you have your heart set on selling her! There's no reason anyone should stop you from doing so.
When it comes down to it, people are very understanding about selling dolls. Things come up: LIFE happens. That's just the way it is.
Even if there isn't a really good reason about selling a doll, other than that you're just not bonding with her, there's nothing wrong with that.
Honestly, I would stay away from Blythe Confessions. That's a new thing that started within the past year & only problems arise from it.
There's a group of people (or maybe more) who thrives from talking about the posts. It causes more trouble than anything else.
That's wonderful to hear, I can't wait to see you there & meet you in person! You're going to have SO much fun.
I've been to every single BlytheCon & each one is a brand new experience. The next few are already planned out.
Prepare to be overwhelmed with people & dollies!
I don't think there are any people in particular you should watch out for on BK. Most of the drama happens with groups of people.
The best thing to do is to keep to yourself when it comes to touchy subjects, like the ones I mentioned before. ^^
Having a supportive boyfriend is a big help with this hobby, mostly because the doll hobby is so unique & Blythes are rather expensive.
My dolly family wouldn't be the same without the support of my husband. In fact, he's helped me form many of my dolls' personalities.
Thank goodness for sweet, open minded people like our guys! The world would be at a loss without them. whee
Yesss, I've been a member of Blythe Kingdom from day one. xD It's the main Blythe community to belong to these days. The first big community, This Is Blythe, kind of died after a ton of drama took place a few years ago. Unfortunately, as you've already noticed, the community is FULL of drama. Honestly, it's inescapable. There's been a lot of drama since the beginning, but it's only gotten worse over the years.
I attend BlytheCon every year (this next one is in New York in October) & drama is unavoidable even at the convention. Most of the problems stem from doll clothing or customization designs being copied. More recently, people are up in arms over a lot of fake Blythes being sold by overseas companies. All of these things are borderline ridiculous-- or just plain ridiculous. I don't like getting into it myself so I just ignore all the crap that goes on & I focus on what I love: dolls & my friends.
Nevertheless, I recommend joining BK. It's incredibly important when it comes to staying up-to-date with the newest Blythe news & the absolute best dolly & dolly clothing deals are found there. I acquire most of my dolls through the forums, rather than places like eBay, & I have no regrets!
Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'm always happy to help. ^__^
