The Girl In The Mirror

There’s a stranger looking at me, that girl in the mirror with the wavy brown hair that never obeys; it seems kind of familiar.
With a smile that gets caught in her lips and never makes it to her eyes,
She spins a fascinating tale, that girl in the mirror.
She has a hundred truths to hide, and tells a dozen lies.
She makes a maze to her heart and cries all alone, that girl in the mirror.
With stubborn golden eyes that even with tears will never waver
And marks on her palms from too many clenched fists,
She pretends to be strong, that girl in the mirror.
Her heart is hollow and lonely as she waits for someone that will look for her when she gets lost, that will pick her up when she falls, that will believe in her dreams, that will let her exist.
But for now,
She’s just a girl in the mirror.

This City

Sometimes, when I’m walking around in the city, I notice that people walk around really fast, looking at the ground, or at the papers in the folders in their arms, or talking on their phones , making appointments, bad mouthing bosses, scolding their children. I wonder if any of them have noticed how clear the sky is today, or how fluffy the clouds are, or how scenic the sunset is, setting between silver giants and setting the sky on fire. Did they notice that the trees are blooming and robins are singing? Life in this city is too fast, with underground subways and crowded busses. I’m so thankful for the parks and musicians on the corners. If only for a moment, for a single glance, I want everyone to remember why their still alive.

1) getting lost
2) cheering people up/ bringing people down
3) making people laugh/cry uncontrollably for no reason
4) pissing people off
5) Getting what i want
