Marshal lived in a settlement in the Capital Wasteland known as Megaton ever since she was a little girl. Her parents disappeared when Marshal was only nine. She doesn't remember much about her childhood, other than that, but she remembered enough to know that she has been a loner most her life.
At the age of twenty, Marshal started working for a woman by the name of Moria Brown. Marshal picked up a lot of experience in science and repair from it. But when Moria came up with this idea of a 'Wasteland Survival Guide', Marshall decided to leave Megaton. Though Moria's "moronic" nature had part of her decision to leave, Marshal mostly left to find adventure outside of Megaton and hope to help other survivors. She walked D.C., helping those in need and learning how to survive without the safety of Megaton.
But when the Enclave appeared out of nowhere and she started hearing about this 'Lone Wanderer', Marshal wanted to get the hell out of dodge. She left D.C. and traveled from place to place, going far distances and helping everyone she could.
At the age of twenty-four, Marshal encountered a group in need of help. The apparent leader of the group told her that they had been robbed by some raiders and that the raiders had escaped to their camp in the near-by area. Marshal decided to help them retrieve their stolen property. When she entered the raiders camp, she was ambushed and taken captive by the raiders. Marshal learned that the whole event had been plotted to capture various people among the Wastes and sell them to slavers for caps, food, and ammo.
Marshal, soon, found herself in the hands of Caesar's Legion. She was transported, as a slave, to a small Legion encampment in the Mojave Wasteland. She remained there for three months until the encampment was attacked by a group of NCR soldiers. Marshal used the NCR's distraction to escape. She managed to find shelter in a small settlement somewhere south of the encampment. The town was known as Nipton.
Marshal stayed there for a few weeks, to recuperate and gather up supplies before she headed out into the Wastes once again. Due to the physical and mental abuse she suffered during her time as a slave as well as the events that lead to her becoming one, she started to see most people as untrustworthy and no longer tried to provide help to those in need, focusing solely on her own survive and needs. She kept to herself and only visits whatever settlements she comes across to restock on ammo and supplies, find a work bench to repair her equipment, or to do odd jobs to earn some caps.
Currently, she has kept herself in the Mojave, just going wherever the wind takes her.
