He is an honest young man. Somber but extremely headstrong, his parents are the most renowned and highly respected scholars of symbolical genetics in the Pangalactic Federation. Fayt also studies Symbological Genetics in the Bachtein Science University, and while he is studious, he prefers playing sports and games to studying. He commits himself daily to martial arts practice in the "battle simulator." Although he can be stubborn at times, he is thoughtful and never abandons a person in need.
The main character of Star Ocean 3, Fayt is a seemingly-normal college student from Earth. His father, Robert Leingod, is a famous authority on Symbological Genetics, a highly controversial scientific field, and does much of his work on the orbital colony of Moonbase. Fayt is somewhat lazy when it comes to his college work and takes every opportunity during his vacation to Hyda IV, a famous resort planet, to ignore that work; he does this mostly by playing games. Specifically, combat simulation holographic games. In spite of this, Fayt is a loyal and honorable young man who will never abandon someone in need of help. When Hyda IV is attacked and Fayt is lost on an underdeveloped planet, the combat "games" prove themselves as good practice with his weapon of choice: the sword.
In battle, Fayt uses his sword and the majority of his attacks are short ranged. His HP and MP growth rates are above average, and he is capable of dealing notable amounts of both HP and MP damage with his Battle Skills. His Defense growth is the highest in the game, and he is the fastest runner in battle.

Fayt's Story

Vacancy
Fayt's journey starts during vacation on the Federation-owned planet Hyda IV. While staying at the beach side resort Grantier with his parents and childhood friend Sophia, Fayt spends most of his time playing video games, much to the chagrin of Sophia. After meeting the up and coming child star, Peppita, Fayt manages to convince Sophia to play a game with him. Not long after the game ends, Hyda IV comes under attack by an alien force and the populace is forced to flee to an evacuation facility, separating Fayt and Sophia from Fayt's parents. Once aboard the escape ship, they are attacked again and forced to escape into deep space in escape pods, further separating Fayt from Sophia.
Vendeeni's Attempts
After drifting through space for a week, Fayt lands on the underdeveloped planet Vanguard III. With only a sword for protection, he travels through the forests before collapsing in the backwater town of Whipple. Here he is rescued by two orphaned children, and learns that the town has been recently terrorized by an extraterrestrial known as Norton. Fayt, along with the recently revealed Quark member Cliff, defeat Norton and rescues one of the orphaned children from his cells. Cliff urges Fayt to meet his boss and the two leave on his ship, along with Mirage Koas.
While in space, Fayt is attacked once again by the same alien forces, the Vendeeni. The ship makes a crash landing on another underdeveloped planet, Elicoor II. Mirage escapes while Fayt and Cliff are taken prisoner by the Kingdom of Airyglyph before being rescued by the Aquarian spy, Nel Zelpher. Due to their knowledge of superior technology and the wreckage of the ship, they assume the identities of engineers from the technologically advanced Kingdom of Greeton, and are coerced by Nel to help the Kingdom of Aquaria. After witnessing the negative impact the war is having on the people, Fayt decides to help Aquaria complete the Thunder Arrow weapon.
During the final battle of the war, a Vendeeni battleship interferes and opens fire on all parties. Cliff lets slip that they Vendeeni were actually after Fayt the entire time, and in a display of emotion and power, Fayt unleashes a strange blast that disintegrates the ship effortlessly.
Fourth-Dimension War
Fayt eventually discovers that his father experimented on him and embedded symbols into his genes. Fayt was given the power of Destruction. Upon the awakening of this power, Fayt destroyed this Vendeeni battleship, which was carrying soldiers attempting to abduct him. Fayt's power of Destruction also allows the party to harm the entities within 4D Space in the latter half of the game.

Battle
In battle, Fayt uses his sword, and the majority of his attacks are short ranged. His HP and MP growth rates are above average, and he is capable of dealing notable amounts of both HP and MP damage with his Battle Skills. His Defense growth is the highest in the game, and he is the fastest runner in battle. Fayt's power of Destruction manifests as symbological attack abilities late in the game.

Attacks
Side Kick- A quick spinning side kick that scores multiple hits.
Blade Of Fury- A multi-part sword strike combo.
Blazing Sword/Icicle Edge/Lighting Blade- Fayt adds elemental effects to his sword strikes.
Aerial- A Quick Strike from above.
Charge- A shoulder tackle attack.
Shotgun Blast- Fayt creates a series of .5 kiloton explosions in a wall of destructive force.
Air Raid- Fayt leaps into the air with an uppercut slash of energy that knocks the enemy into the air as well, then sends the enemy back to the ground with a second powerful wave of energy for a wide, damaging shockwave.
Dimension Door- Fayt charges in a void of energy, damaging enemies in the vicinity, and teleports over to the nearest enemy, hitting them with an energy slash.
Divine Blade- Fayt's sword is blessed with holy power, adding non-elemental and mana damage to his normal attacks.
Ethereal Blast- Fayt's sword turns into energy that surrounds his body as he leaps into the air. He grows wings and is covered in an aura of energy, which he unleashes in large beam on a concentrated area of the ground; the end result is an enormous explosion that causes heavy physical and mana damage.
