I'm Dani.
I'm a freelance illustrator and cartoonist by day, and a Library & Archival Sciences grad student by night. When I grow up, I want to tell stories about people that don't exist, histories that never were, and places that might have been. In comic form. Yeah, I'm a real big dork. (Thankfully I came to terms with this a long time ago.)
Currently battling research papers & lit reviews. ILU Gaia, but I'm a lot busier these days than I used to be.
I've traded Queens for the Queen City (a self-imposed exile of sorts;) and I'm currently learning to navigate my way around the frozen tundra of Buffalo -- idly wondering if I should trade in my subway pass for a sled and a snowmobile. I live with Basil (my cat), transitory goldfish, a potential tarantula, and snow. Lots of snow. I love it here. I'm a snarky brit-pop enthusiast; just your average nerdy chubby chick in chunky purple glasses and a scarf for every occasion. And while I'm not entirely certain why this is the sort of pertinent information I should be sharing with you here -- it fits, right?
I draw cute, weird, and vaguely pornographic things, sew stuffed monsters and toys, obsess over comics, manga, and the color pink. I've been known to collect kitschy junk, and read more bad sci-fi and fantasy novels than a sane person should. Spiders are awesome. Hello kitty is my homegirl, and I probably would have been sorted into Ravenclaw. I have never worked at Empire Records or the Moulin Rouge but I have worked at a gas station and a preschool.
I'm not a water-bender, but I appreciate bubblebaths immensely. I'm not a cartoon-character either, but I have worked as an animator. My zanpakuto is probably heartshaped; I'd be the most useless shinigami ever. Never been to Azeroth but I am for the Alliance. (I <3 trolls though.)
I flit in and out of fandoms like a perpetual tourist but I keep the dream alive. My boots (doc martens) are made for walking. I have the most wonderfultastic friends ever. And I hate giant robots (though an exception has been made for the Megas.)
