Hi. I go by Kiironobara on Gaia. Some people shorten it to Kiiro or Kii, which is fine. Kiironobara is Japanese for Yellow Rose, which is my favorite flower. I am a 24-year-old graduate student, and contrary to popular teeniebopper opinion, being here does not mean that I have no life (I have, if anything, way too much of one). I own Kiironobara\'s Wishlists, which is apparently popular given the fact that I catch an average of a thief a week. I closed it for a short time, but it is now reopened.
Around the rest of the Internet, I go by Rose Thorne. That's been my Internet identity since 1998. Rose Thorne was created to be my pen name while I wrote Yu Yu Hakusho fanfiction. It eventually became more than that: an outlet for me to express myself because I'm somewhat socially inept IRL. Friends I met on the Internet then met IRL call me Rose. Their families call me Rose, even though they know my real name. I'm no longer afraid to express myself IRL, and I owe that partly to the Internet.
But on to my appearance on Gaia. When I came to Gaia, I found that Rose Thorne was already taken. Of course, the user hadn't used it in a while. I was getting a little tired of being associated with my fanfiction anyway, as I wasn't writing much in the way of fanfiction anymore. The theme on my LiveJournal is a yellow rose, also my favorite flower, so I translated it to Japanese because Yellow Rose was also already taken.
I graduated from Purdue University in 2006 with a degree in creative writing. My applications for graduate school were rejected, so I spent the 2006-2007 school year taking more classes and improving my portfolio. I was accepted to a university in California and moved there in 2007. I am extremely busy all the time, since I teach, write, take intense theory classes, and participate in the community. Currently finishing up and getting out of here.
As a creative writer, I write a lot. I am very attuned to plot nuances and character issues in books, short stories, TV series, and movies. Because of this, I am very picky about what I read and watch. I have not had a television in my apartment in six months, and I have not watched television in two years. I have not missed it, either. I very rarely see movies. If I am reading a book and the plot suddenly develops an inexplicable hole or a character does something ridiculously out of character, I will put the book down and I will not pick it up again.
I am less active politically than I was even six months ago. The reasons for this are my own, but I do not plan to use my political science degree in the near future.
I am a lesbian. No, I do not want to debate the morality of homosexuality or how you think I'm going to hell. This is who I am, and it's not up for debate. No, I do not want a Gaia girlfriend. I'm interested in intelligent women, not pixilated characters masking 15-year-olds who are only claiming lesbianism to rebel or because it's cool.
I can generally be found in Minishops, Questions and Answers, the Official Gaia Contests forum, guilds, and very occasionally in Extended Discussion: Politics. I'm more apt to be in Guilds than on Gaia proper.
I don't like random PMs. If you have something to say to me, post it in my comments. And don't ******** beg, because I'll just delete it.
I was, once, a Moderator Assistant for the Minishops forum, meaning I moved threads that didn't belong there. When I was planning to move, I quit, and I don't really want the job back. I also report large sigs. As in, I've probably reported over a thousand of them. Got a big sig? Expect it to, at some point, be removed.
Note that I ruthlessly pursue people who steal my wishlists. If you're here because I reported you, it's because I have undeniable proof that you stole my s**t. I suggest you apologize and don't do it again. I don't care if your little sister/brother/friend/dog was the one who did it, and I also don't stand for accusations that I'm the thief. Don't be pathetic.
Anyone who finds and reports people who have stolen my wishlists to me will receive a free wishlist if the person has, in fact, stolen my wishlists, after I have reported that person to a mod.
