Regarding your argument with the other person (it's getting close to flaming each other) I didn't think you should respond to him (negatively or even at all). If you think his posts are offensive or do not contribute to the discussion at hand, you should just report the posts. That is the right and mature way to handle them. And furthermore, you are preaching a non flaming stance in forums, I believe you should try to set a good example.
