The Forgotten Minstrel Revisited
The Forgotten Minstrel"I wandered by a minstrel's grave
the tombstone of a roguish knave
No names or dates upon the stone
'A kindly man, he rests unknown'
The tale this tells is as forlorn
as is his headstone weatherworn
Likely he had charm and grace
a pleasant voice, a friendly face
immersed in crowds from day to day
with cheerful smiles and songs to play
So why should such a one be left
without friends, or of love bereft
Perhaps it was his final will
to sleep alone forever; still,
it seems a sad, ironic twist
to leave a bard unsung like this
concealed in a secluded spot
grown over with forget-me-nots"
