I did something similar...
So now it loads and crap, and it told me I need to update my windows xp, so I was trying, and I did a disc check like my other pal said.

Now it starts and crap, but becomes unresponsive.
I may try doing this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7241-EYON-2343 and see what it does

I only really have a few friends, who all game, so no one else outside of that really knows.

I don't know, it's freezing when I open it or it wants to update but it either shuts down my computer or it cancels itself and starts again.
Though, my computer is a rather old computer, It's a windows XP acer 5670
