About
So in rl I'm an animal fanatic, my expertise lie with rats and cats though I've dabbled into the fish world a little. I have 10 rats, 1 mouse, and a bunch of aquatic snails, I'm also looking into getting a dog which I'm pretty excited about!
I have recently opened a rattery with my girlfriend, on here she's Little Sholac.

We are still in the starting phases but feel free to ask us questions!
My Rats:
The Girls Cage Their hammocks were out for cleaning when I took this picture so it looks a little emptier than it usually is. This cage is 18" Wide, 60" Long, and 67"
Birtha, she's a black berkshire she grandmother to Ebby and Socks (males we'll get to those in a bit) and great grandmother to Nugget. Birtha is about a two and a half now. I got her from a friend, he was breeding her for food for his snake, but he didn't really know what he was doing. I decided to lend a hand and took over the breeding having had males on hand at the time. She had 3 litters before being retired. She's a silly girl and completely food obsessed. In her older age you can really see some brown coming out in her fur, especially in the light :3 Birtha's character really comes out when she gets her free roam time. She loves to hop around like a little kangaroo and attack whomever is in the room climbing all over them and giving them little kisses. Birtha is one of my few rats that's had a need to see the vet. Shortly after her second Birthday Birtha developed a mammary tumor under her left arm, and I just fretted the entire time she was at the vets! The surgery went wonderfully even with her age and the tumor never came back! Hopefully my old gal will be with me for a long time to come. Birth has also got a couple of 'piercings' staples that never fell out after the surgery site healed lol But they don't bother her and the vet said it was nothing to worry about, guess my girl is just gonna sport some bling ;D
Nugget, a black irish this lovely little lady is great granddaughter to Birtha. She was born March 17th 2012 that's right a st. patty's day baby! Her mother is Sandrine. And that's how she got her name. Nugget came at a time when I simply was swamped with work and unable to properly socialize the new little ones, as a result most of that litter became shy which was bad considering their intended purpose was to be feeders. Nugget on the other hand responded to even the limited time with me and blossomed, she's a lot like her great grandmother and full of spunk!
Sandrine, PEW, about 1 year of age. Sandrine is a wonderful little girl who is also mother to Nugget. She only had one litter before being retired, she's a bit on the shy side but always happy to take treats. We believe that a big part of that shyness is due to the fact that she is loosing her eyesight. You just have to move a bit slower with her and make sure she knows your there just like any blind animal, other than that's she's like all the other rats.
Lacey, a beige hooded with dumbo ears! She's about 9 months old. I got this lovely little lady from a breeder who owned a rattery where she used to live and was forced to downsize as they are simply not a popular pet where she moved. She's fitting in wonderfully with my clan, and slowly gaining her confidence.
Tiana, a black variegated. This little girl was bred by a friend of mine to be snake food, but she was simply too cute so I had to adopt her! Tiana is about 3 months old now and growing up nicely. She's still quite shy, but should learn quickly how much fun humans are!
-The Boys-
The Boy\'s Cage is a ferret nation double; 36"L x 24"W x 48"H These dimensions do not include the stand/under storage only the actual bulk of the cage.
Ebony (Ebby) and Socks, these two big boys were born 7/17/2011. Ebby is black shelf and Socks is black berkshire. Ebby is a finger licker too, socks is a bit shyer preferring to hide and decide if he wants to come see you or not. When out to roam Ebby loves to claim you! A habit I have to admit I'm not terribly fond of lol boys and their marking ><';
Bolt, a blue blaze dumbo eared boy a little over a year now. I got him from the same breeder that Lacey and Theo came from. Bolt is my little butt! He can be quite the bully sometimes, usually the trouble making that likes to start fights in the cage. Bolt's best friend is little Theo, he's always taking care of him and watching out for the shyer rat, it's the only rat in the cage that Bolt won't fight with. Bolt is one of the first to the door to demand his treats and attention!
Theo, a pearl cinnamon self dumbo eared boy who's a little over a year now. Theo is a little shy preferring to run and hide rather than confront any of the other ratties. He's much smaller in size then most of them so we all understand. His very best friend in the world is Bolt, his big brother protector.
Zander, Silvered black berkshire dumbo eared, his age is uncertian though I'd guess about 1 1/2. This big boy came to me as a bit of a rescue. He was surrendered to me because his former owners just didn't have time for him. He came with a guinea pig cage (no where big enough for a rat) and no toys at all to play with. He is a solo rat, and has never been with other rats before, introductions into my clan are planned in the future! Zander is just one of those rats that you fall head over heels for. He's the sweetest most laid back big boy you'll ever meet! He's curious about the cats and dogs and not at all afraid of anything. You can even flip this little rat on his back and tickle his belly! My life would not be complete without this little boy.
My rats are fed Mazuri lab blocks at night and fresh veggies every morning, though most of them have never seen a vet I don't hesitate to bring them in if ever a problem should arise. Most of my rats are kept on fleece bedding that gets cleaned once a week.
-Mouse-
Picture to come
Bellatrix, a fawn banded mouse. This little fatty here is living out her golden years with me. I bought her for the simple reason that I felt she deserved to live out the rest of her life happily rather than being snake food! Her age is uncertain. She's older and overweight, she's also got a mammary tumor on her back leg. And I bought her just like that! She was a former breeder of the pet store who was no longer producing any babies for them.
My mouse is also fed Mazuri lab blocks at night and fresh veggies in the morning as well as she is kept in a 10g on carefresh, and has a cagemate by the name of Gandulf who actually belongs to my girlfriend.
