Behind the Avatar:

(This passage is short, choppy and to the point. Meaning it will be long, but shorter than I wish for it to be, because the 'wordsworth' in me wishes to take it from a simple passage, to a novel to a dictionary.
I am still without a Wix profile that I can take seriously. It seems that Gaia is making it nearly impossible to function without a public profile. So I made it visible on 02-24-2013. Most of the artwork done for me by Gaia's most gracious artists and myself is not here. I plan for them to be on my Wix, because Wix features those neat tabs to organize everything. I am hand-drawing many things that will show up in my finished profile, so it may take a while. I have tons of sketches and drawings, but due to me not being around a scanner most of the time, they don't make it to Gaia. I drew the figure that is in the frame surrounded by yellow roses, and I got the guts to design for this recent contest:

When it comes to Gaia, if I do begin drawing for people it will combine anime, Medieval-esque art from the old manuscripts and that wonderful antique look that can be found within those Goldwyn Mayer illustrations.



This passage is not about Empress Laurella. Empress Laurella is a character I created through Gaia. She runs about in poofy dresses, sips fancy hot and cold beverages, demonstrates royal social graces and speaks with a slight medieval flair. She is very much like me, minus the whole fantasy, magically empowered empress thing. If you wish to know more of her in general, she is in the forums often.)





Hello, or Salut'! :crown:My name's Mrs. Young, or just Laurella. Some friends call me Rells.

I live in New York at the moment and am in my early 20's. I am female. I am a Libra. I am married to the sweetest, most thoughtful, most determined, most handsome man in the world, my James. AKA, Golden Duckies, or just Ducky, for his golden hair. He is known as g-nome here on Gaia. He is an adventurer at heart and loves art and cooking as much as I do. Before we started dating, we discovered that our liking for Gaia was one of the things we had in common.

I am shy and aloof in nature, but I aim to be gentle, caring and kind at all times. I don't shout. I don't like large crowds. I curse seldom. People think I am a so-called 'goody-two shoes' Christian, but I am alas, I have no following. People should have morals religion or no religion. I feel a genuine respect for man-kind and nature and strive for excellent manners everywhere I go. I try not to stand out too much. My favorite word and thing is "anonymous". I love being alone with a book or my art supplies or my Duckie. I am not fond of television, 'reality' T.V, or movies, especially modern-day movies.

People say I don't walk, I glide around with a 'la-la-land' look on my face. They are right. A song, loved ones, beautiful landscapes/gardens, piano chromatic scales, or a work of art is always on my mind.

I am a perfectionist and I care very, very much about my performance in life, my occupation, my grades, my posture and very much about how I look. My weakness is the mirror, but I am not vain and I honor and admire all forms of beauty. I am just always worried of what people think, so it turn, I must always appear vibrant, healthy and 'put-together' at all times and at all costs. However, when it comes down to it, I always put others and their needs before my own even if I must silently suffer. I am somewhat of a people-pleaser, but I truly care about others, even if I particularly do not care much for them or they care not for me. I am always trying to slowly morph an enemy into a friend, though it ALWAYS comes back to bite me in the end. I do not have many enemies to worry of.

I am not particularly romantic or too sexual. It's just how I am. I always joke how I am one chromosome short of asexuality, but I lavish my loved one(s) with the love and attention they deserve. I see no gender when it comes to love and I believe in true love and the majesty of the human race. (Campy, yes, very, very campy)

This planet is my home and I intend to explore every corner of it and meet every people and immerse in every culture before I pass away. I feel life is a journey and people get distracted from it by little things that really are not relevant to the grand trip.

I love debating. I feel the strong urge to win in debates and will go above and beyond to prove a point, but I am always open to new ways of thinking and can admit if I am wrong. I debate not to put anyone down, or feel superior, but it's sort of a vain attempt to help them see a better and more moral solution to things. I am quiet and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. But if I feel crossed far too many times, have may own way of being sarcastic and adding a sting to my statements while still being somewhat humorous, still nice, yet truthful. I suppose you call that dry wit. Some people call it passive aggressiveness. I just don't like confrontation or being aggressive. I believe you can draw the line between peacefulness and assertiveness.


I dislike sexists, religious fundamentalists, slanderers and gossipers, waking up early, racial supremacists, unclean places, pistachios, centipedes, cheaters, thieves and people who force themselves upon others or try to pry in any way.

I DETEST people who hurt children and innocent animals.

I love children and animals. I especially love birds, fish, music and beautiful things. Ruby pink is my favorite color. My favorite flower is the yellow rose. I have a thing for jesters/harlequins... especially royal jesters/harlequins. I enjoy reading, puzzles, exercising my brain and studying of all things as much as possible. I love knowledge. My favorite subjects are astrology and history. My favorite era is the Medieval era.

I also love Gaia and have been on this site since the beginning. It sure has changed, but change is good. Gaia makes these neat little avatars where the possibilities to make something fresh is virtually endless. I am glad I stayed around because over time, Gaia's item technology became more and more sophisticated and even beautiful. I take the royal theme with me online and offlines, so as expected, I was delighted when Gaia began featuring more and more royal-themed items.
Some time ago, I was preoccupied with creating meshes and clothing skins for the Sims 1-3 franchise, and I still do. I love designing things for character designs/diagrams to interior house design. I just love designing and people say I have a 'good eye' for things. I have a passion for the royal theme and cannot steer away from it for the life of me, and thus the character Empress Laurella, through Gaia, was created. I also roleplay. Hardcore roleplay. I have noticed that on this site, no one seems to know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Speaking of creating... I live and breathe creation. I paint, draw and love designing every-day wear, evening gowns and costumes, namely royal-themed costumes. I am on this site more than ever and hope to participate in art/designing contests and even open my own art shop if I ever get the time. I am a fan of traditional art mediums. Watercolors, acrylics and beads are favored.

I am a soprano vocalist and I have been playing the piano and clarinet and have been vocally trained for over seventeen years. I love (most) music.

Historical music is a favorite by default and as with my preference for era, art, architecture and design, my favorite historic music is of the Medieval sway.

My other favorite style of more modern music is pop-jazz, swing-jazz and opera. I equally love house/electronic/techno/club that can remix most any song on the planet.

I have just gotten into this new little invention called dubstep.

I can always count on rock/metal/screamo to give me an adrenaline rush. Most R&B soothes me. I can always count on country to tell me a good tale.

I can always expect gangster rap to make my ears bleed and my I.Q waver.

And Mariah Carey is a musical goddess. I love her almost as much as Cher and Madonna and Whitney.

I am a songwriter and I take the time to write the notes to my music. I also love to write short stories and am working on a full novel. Combining my skill for writing and art, I plan to make a legit comic-series one day. I also love to cook. Baking pastries is my all-time favorite.

Oh, and my love of Mariah Carey is above and beyond. I mentioned that, didn't I? The whole Nikki Minaj vs. Mariah thing. I could care less for though.

Aaaand that's about it. Now enough about me, feel free to tell me about yourself if you'd like. Oh, and most of my friends have been put in the golden frames that you see about the page. They're quite nice and you'll see that Gaia is full of level-headed, outstanding citizens. I love getting to know others, but I have a very small circle of friends. Shyness is like that sometimes.
