Homestly, I never notice you on XD.
As far as your question goes: It's like an RPG without the fun killing stuff. Gather XP (Gold) Upgrade your Character (Shops) Interact with others doing the same (forums). It's just a more interactive myspace which rewards those who use it extensively.
I just use it because it's there personally, hence I don't have a gold to my name XD
