My name is Fiorella Bellini. I am twenty-eight years old. My birthday is April 14th.. Does that make me a taurus? I'm not sure..
I lived in Italy with my mother and grandmother all my life, but when they died a year ago, I decided it was time to travel while I was still young enough. However, I find myself quite lost.. There's a ship in the distance.. immense and beautiful.. Maybe I can find some sort of comfort there? It can't hurt to look, can it?
I found Mackenzie Giovanni Ragetti, my childhood friend, on The Ship, like I thought I might. He seemed well.. I hardly recognized him. The poor dear has been through so much.. But I can't feel too bad for him; when I asked him to return home with me, he declined, saying that he couldn't leave the people on The Ship that he loved. Angry and hurt, I returned home on my own.
The gang of hooligans that murdered and robbed my dear friend Antonio outnumbered us. Five of us, there were. Lucio, Alessandro, Giordanni, Marcello, and myself. It was hardly a surprise that we lost to them in our attempt to exact revenge. But it was a surprise, however, to see Lucio die..
The memory is so vivid in my mind. His body, lying mangled, riddled with bullet holes.. He was the strongest of our ragtag group, and his death was a huge blow to our morale.
Marcello went next. In his rage at losing Lucio, he rushed forward. An ax to the neck was unexpected, at best. It didn't even fully sever his head.. After that, Giordanni ran for it. I would find out, later, that he struck a bargain with the leader of that horrible group of men.. He's joined up with them to save his own skin. If I ever see him again, I'll kill him myself.
After Giordanni fled, Alessandro and I were quick to follow suit. But not before Alessandro sustained fairly severe injuries to his face. You'd think he'd been killed, the way he carried on.. "My face!! My beautiful face!!" If my heart hadn't been so heavy, I may have laughed.
In an attempt to disguise myself, I lopped off all of my pretty hair and took on the guise of a young man. It worked for a bit.. But once I'd left Italy, hugging the shore best I could in a longboat.. Horrible.. I realized the disguise was sort of pointless. No one could see me.. but me. Alessandro followed me in a boat close behind. We headed for The Ship, the only place where I knew we'd be safe.
Sometime in the night I lost Alessandro. There was a strange green thing floating in the water near me and I pulled it out. It was.. oddly enough, a rabbit. He was alive, so I took him in and nursed him while I searched for The Ship.
After who knows how long, I found it. A kindly woman named Annalease King let down a rope for me, and I was safe. But I was worried for Alessandro.. He still hadn't shown up.
Aboard The Ship, I was once again reunited with Gio.. I told him what had happened.. He, of course, wanted to rush off to kill the whole lot of the bastards that had killed our friends. But I wouldn't allow it. He seems to have adopted the position of elder brother to me, now.. I must say I don't much mind it.
I met a man on The Ship, too. He's kind to a fault, really. A bit of a womanizer, from what I can see, but if I've ever met a true gentleman, Draike Woode is as true a gentleman as they come. It turns out my rabbit is called a "grunny." Some strange genetically altered rabbit. He bit me.. Draike was very worried. Apparently if you're bitten by a grunny, you turn into something called a "grombie." I'd never heard of it before, but Draike is very smart, so... He kept trying to give me an antidote, but I didn't trust him enough to take it.. Thought it might be poison.
I'm embarrassed to say this, but when I kept refusing the antidote, he put some into his mouth and force fed it to me. It tasted horrible.. The antidote, not his lips. Were it not for that foul liquid, I may have enjoyed it.
But thanks to that event, I was able to get a real kiss from him later that evening. However, what I didn't know was that a simple kiss, and a few flirty smiles, would tear Draike from his current lover, a French Prince named Antoine Bakere.. I feel horrible for their split.. like it was my fault..
Alessandro showed up, as well, but it was bittersweet, as we had a bit of an argument when I refused to marry him..
And that's where I find myself right now. Comfortable in a cabin of my own.. Owner of a sweet, rather.. snappy, but altogether kind pet grunny.. And I'm able to spend quite a bit of time with a love prospect. All in all.. Excluding the death of two of my best friends.. I am happy now. I'm safe, warm, and loved. What more could a girl want? <3
