Your signature with the joke about Descartes; I remember hearing a version on an episode of Babylon 5, a science fiction television show from the 90's.

However, it is probable that the joke is much older; it is the sort of quick and punchy joke based on a common phrase and a famous philosophy, and so it is could easily have been created by many people over the years without them being aware of other versions of it.
