I've been tattooed since I was 19. And I have no plans to stop.

I've been pierced since I was at least 15, if not younger. And sure as hell have no plans to stop.

But having your own will help you remember, and serve as a reference for the real artist who designs the final result for you. I can't draw for s**t, but I know how to search for reference material, I have a working printer, and a vivid mind's eye.

Start sketching. You have your whole life to get tattooed too. Things might change, you might have a random stroke of inspiration and come up with a design you never thought of. But having a little book full of ideas is cool too.

Find a cool lion design, rather than the actual symbol. My eastern zodiac is a tiger, so I got that on my shoulder. I wish I'd had a better design for my first one, my Aquarius tattoo, but I might find a way to fix it later.

Figuring out the design is the hardest part. I brought reference pictures to my artist and he ended up putting the design together. So really, it's his more than mine. He gets super excited whenever I go in. I'm the centerpiece of the new portfolio he's working on. sweatdrop
