Hah! Thanks. I was going to make a shirt that said that, and then...didn't. So, signature.

Thank you. However, I did not make my layout. I found it on tektek.org. But it is nice to know we share the same taste!

I assumed you were. I'm surprised she never blocked me before, honestly, because I wasn't any different than you two really. I could never figure out her reasoning for you. It drove me crazy how she wouldn't take listening to anything that didn't match her perfect fantasy. I just wish I'd done something smart to get blocked, but oh well. Oh, and funny story about that thread being in the chatterbox... Seth/Gabe PMed me after he was banned from the thread, so I PMed him after me and sqrttt were banned (haven't figured out who, but apparently she blocked someone else this time too). I asked in the 111 if they wouldn't be able to see anything you posted if they blocked you or something generic, since no one's actually blocked me before, which lead to Seth/Gabe informing them she blocked me, which lead to discussion of Aliyssa and her mass blockage of the WF, and eventually led to Majkai reporting it. I'm still amused. She effectively blocked everyone I thought was interesting to talk to. Anyway, kinda old news, but I wasn't sure if you'd care or not. My goal was to get to 100 pages before she blocked me. So I'm good.

Yeah, I feel like I'm at least getting something out of this class. It's not at all the same as writing prose, I keep adding too much stage direction because I know exactly how I want to see it and such, but you're really not supposed to do that. But It's really cool, it's unique, and I'm surrounded by cool people. I really don't feel up to par to actually being there, but I'm dazzling my professor by giving him my rough draft of my novel to sort of help me with, and he actually likes it. I feel somewhat redeemed for my suckish screenwriting skills. But in learning screenwriting, it's helping me think of the audience and the way everything's percieved in ways I hadn't had to think about. I already sort of knew that two people can read the same character differently, but the magnatude of that is really amazing--we read each other's scripts out loud. My version of how the character's voice sounds in my head was soooo different from how they were read, and I described it exactly as I thought about it. It's just so interesting, and looking at other's work too, it's watching things come to life like you just couldn't with straight prose. I really think it's helping me, even if I never write another screenplay. And it's definetly good pacing practice, as well as figuring out scene order and such.

Yeah, my tendancy to procrastinate would lend itself to believing that's what my character pages are, but it really isn't. I was having trouble focusing on my actual work since I did one large straight read-through, and the damn thing's 400 pages, exactly. This let me take the step back that I needed to see things more objectively again, and I'm actually editing things so my understanding of the characters shines through better, because before I wasn't even sure about some of these characters. It's not so bad for me to go from writing character profiles to actual writing. Half the time I write as if they're speaking them.

I suppose I'm sorry for your blockage, but I think it speaks more to your intelligance and ability to see things as more than "let's talk about how amazing it is to have half vampires." Without you guys that's kinda what it turned into. >.< Did you ever finish anything with your vampires?
Makai447 Report | 07/27/2008 3:10 pm
My writing's kinda scattered. Most of my actual writing has been for my screenplay (taking screenwriting class, so it's somewhat mandatory), I've still been continually editing like crazy, and I've been writing profiles of characters I might use in the future, I know I'll use in the future, and characters I need to make sure I portrayed correctly. It's more like a super extended bio/interview than anything resembling a profile sheet though, so I've been writing pages just doing that. It's actually really cool, because since I was writing in 1st person, my view on the characters had to be more limeted, but going back and objectively viewing things the way I naturally would is enlightening, and I can see where there's more depth than I'd thought and where I should add some. So on the whole things are going well.

And in all honesty, Aliyssa's vampires still bother me. >.<

Does "you'd rather be out" mean this is a self-imposed out or you were blocked? I'm pretty sure most people were blocked (I was, Hazagaarn (whoa, totally screwed up that spelling), Seth Regente, sqrttt, etc). That place was completely not the same though after people got outted, all the interesting people just were gone, y'know?

Hey. Just thought I'd say hi, see how you were. Remembered we talked for a long time in the vampire thread. It's been a while, so I thought I'd just see how things were going on your end.

Thanks for the comment on my drawing! Actually, that's exactly it. the funnier part is while it's all in black in white, those are the colors he actually is save for the ribbon on the pendant which is a gold color instead ^^;. That and the no mouth thing with a full-blown biological explanation behind it made them a fun species to make. I'm glad you liked the shading! It took a while to make it look right, and thanks again!

Who I Am

I am old enough to know that I am mortal,
Young enough that I cannot imagine death.
I am kind enough to forgive an enemy,
Cruel enough to kill a friend.

I live eight minutes from the sun and one second from the moon
In a house where the difference between freezing and burning is a single staircase.

I was born when the sun was neither up nor down,
And since then have held a special love for the dawn and the dusk.
