I think Hogfather is one of my favorites of his books too, though I only recently actually read Mort, which offered better insights into Susan's parents and whatnot. I also feel like Death's character changed a lot from the early books. I seem to remember that right off in The Color of Magic he kills a small creature and a man out of irritation with Rincewind at some point. That certainly wasn't "being there when they were killed", as he does in later books.
I think they did it like that to quickly introduce the "Angua is a werewolf" principle. I never imagined her as blonde, or that eager to display her werewolf side though.
Death is always one of the best characters. I loved his voice.
My parents got me the Going Postal movie for christmas, and I loved it. Like you said, only a few, minor things. Like, didn't Pump #9, or whichever his number was, get destroyed by the Post Office fire? One of the golems did anyhow. But I can see that being a way to make the movie lighter. I think it helps that Terry Pratchett was sort of overseeing the entire filming and production. Did you see his cameo at the end?
My favorite of those is still Hogfather though. I think I mentioned that seeing Hogfather on tv is the reason I got into the books?
Yeah, Snuff. My mom pointed it out to me in the store because it was in hardback, and it was a title we didn't recognize. I got her into Terry Pratchett also.
Weirdly, the first of his books that I read was actually "Nation", which isn't one of his discworld novels. But I chanced upon the "other books by" page, which I generally ignore for some reason, and I noticed that he'd written dozens of books, and among them was "Hogfather", which I'd seen part of the movie version of. So we started buying them and reading them, I've got a big stack now xD
Maybe they forgot about it. Posting doesn't seem to work in it anymore though.
Ah, yeah, I knew that there were Boots of Springheeled Jack in the game, I didn't realize you needed them for part of an actual storyline. I've been using this name for awhile elsewhere, and everyone who sees it always mentions Oblivion,or some book series, when I actually intended my name to be from the actual myth.
I think so..he's had it for awhile now, right? But he did come out with a new book fairly recently.
Pretty good. Found that Battleground forum again today with my old topic. I'm surprised it's still around. Good times.
The leaping about bit more than the escaping Imperial libraries part. Is that referring to the Spring-Heeled Jack reference in Oblivion? I've never played, but people always inform me that there is one.
Also noticed that our last conversation was about Terry Pratchett. I'm reading Night Watch currently.
