I was originally thinking everyone would choose a different gaksuhi type which has different advantages in battle (Like an attack type would cause more damage while whatever Yen's job was (I can't remember the name lol) would have more chances to guess a letter). I like your "russian roulette" style feature. It works with what I had in mind.
I think that one of the main things that makes it complicated is understanding the difference between guessing a maga's name and defeating it in battle. I also wanted to set everyone in teams but that runs the risk of people flaking out and leaving others hanging.
