I really get annoyed when people don't know the difference between style and category. You can aim for realism, but you can put a personal spark to it. Art is art, there are basically no rules.
Although, the input of others are important if you plan on making art to please others and not just yourself.
Input of others are partially important to me. I plan on selling some art when I'm good enough, but I'm not going to make it as "job".
When I switched over to my new style, I didn't have good comments at first. It was terrible. I thought I'd quit and return back to complete animu.
I'm so glad I can be easily persuaded and not care too much. Now I'm getting better comments. You know that feel when you achieved something when you thought it can never be? Ughh, it's the best feel, bro.

I'm working really hard to buy a new computer/laptop (windows 7) so I can use SAI.
My vista hates drawing programs, it seems.
That's a really great tip. I've been having difficulty in making the skin on my drawings to seem realistic.
I'll try to imply that to my next sketch to get a hang of it but I don't think I'll do it right.
I've been practicing my art skills all day every day, I hope to make drastic improvements. = v =
