There is no "No name-dropping rule" in the Q&A.

It is POSSIBLE to be reported for harassment for using another user's name as slander. HOWEVER, reports are reviewed by moderators and just because this MIGHT be reported does not mean that the user would be warned.


To protect your account do the following:

1. Do not give out the email address you used to activate your account.

2. Scan you computer for Keylogger software. Use a virus scanner and a spy ware scan to do this.

3. When the Keylogger (if you have one), is off the computer change the password immediately.

To safeguard your account make sure your password is classified as a strong one:

Strong passwords are:
~ long, random strings of characters
~ 14 characters or longer is ideal
~ mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and other symbols (when allowed).

Make sure that your password is not:
~ the same password for different sites. It will make it easier for the hacker to get to your account.
~ a dictionary word (like bicycle or pencil)
~ a favorite show, food, movie star or hobby (like ice cream, Naruto, Heroes, etc)

It is important for both new and old captains a like to be aware that members you promote to vice-captain within your guilds have the exact same set of permissions that you do as a captain. This includes the ability to transfer ownership of your guild (they can even make themselves the new captain). For these reasons it is absolutely imperative that you know and trust the member you are granting the vice-captain position to. Setting a random stranger as your vice-captain may put your captain status and guild at risk.

As such, when selling your guild, you should know:

It's also important to know that should you decide to sell your GGN later on, you absolutely do not need to make your buyer a vice-captain before changing ownership to them. Doing this is a very good way to get your guild stolen from you before you get paid for it. The buyer ONLY needs to be a member of the guild they are buying to have ownership transferred to them.

There are 2 main colors for people that are here to help; Orange for Administrators and Green for Moderators.

Orange - For Administrators. These are the ones who manage the forums and lead the moderation and member services teams.

Green - For all Gaia's Moderators. In addition, there will be a text title under their usernames that better explains what their role is and how they can help you. If you need help, people in green are the ones who can help you.

You may also see these other colors on usernames:

    Dark Brown - For names will be given to those who do art, coding, and other fun stuff for you. These are the people that talk about features and development.

    Black - For all other members on Gaia. So if a black username tells you they are a moderator or admin, they aren't smilies/icon_smile.gif

    Members on your friends list will still be in Dark Blue, and NPCs will continue to remain Red.


Green Moderators will still be your first line of support for all of your community needs. And Orange Administrators will continue being the official voice of Gaia as well as leaders of the community team.

Remember:
Scammers

~ Do not have Green, Dark Brown, Red or Orange usernames.

~ Will ask you for your password so they can hack you!

~ Will tell you that you will get gold for clicking on mysterious links (they are lying).

~ Are people with phony names like "MOD BANNING BOT" or something. The only automated accounts that will PM you are the "admin" account and "[NPC]" accounts with red usernames. And they will NEVER ask for your password!

~ Will add things like "[MOD]" "[ADMIN]" "[HI]"and "[NCP]" (notice that it is nCp instead of nPc) in front of their names to try to trick you! Some people use [NCP] as a roleplaying thing; those people aren't necessarily jerks. But if they ask for your password, REPORT 'EM!

~ Will use the appropriate colours for the Mods and Admins in the text of the PM. But if the username is not coloured like the picture below it is a fake.
