My Sister
For a short period of time in school,
Peeta and Gale were the best of friends.
However, the friendship quickly fell to pieces
when the two realized they were fighting to
win the love of the same girl. But on the
day of the Reaping, Gale also paid a visit to
Peeta. Surprised, Peeta looked at his
old friend with a crooked smile. He knew
what Gale was going to say. "Keep her
safe," the two said together. Peeta nodded,
"Always."
When Peeta's father watched him and
Katniss in the cave in the first arena,
he smiled to himself. Although he spent
almost every minute terrified about what
might happen to his son, for those few
minutes he was happy; happy that his son
hadn't made the same mistakes that he did,
and had been brave enough to admit what
he himself had never been able to - that he
was in love with a girl from the Seam.
