AboutYo, Babelguppy here, formerly Doomschneider. It's been a while since I was on and my internet presence (not to mention my own image) has changed a lot since then. Figured it's as good a time as any to change the name.
What can I say? I eat, sleep, breath, and dream geek.
Manga/anime, games, marching band, theatre, reading, writing, music, and language are my weapons of choice, specialties being color guard, speculative fiction (sci-fi/fantasy), rock of all sorts (as well as having a reputation for "that crazy foreign music" wink , spanish (4 years), and german (.5 years), Japanese (2.5 years), Korean (1 year). I'm also moderately versed in american comics (mostly x-men).
I'm obviously a language and music person, but I wouldn't pass up some good physics or calculus. I think i have an aptness for computers, just not much in depth exposure to the real "geeky computer stuff." I even think of language and socialization in terms of formulas and rules (hence the linguistics). But, for all my grammar-nazi-ness, i still can't spell. (Thank god for FireFox and its spellcheck (which, by the way, counts both "firefox" and "spellcheck" as wrong. xd )).
I got into college with an essay on anime, theatre, and rock and roll. I'm just that nuts.
I'm passionate about the world and everything I do. It's not a nice, warm, fuzzy passion, and certainly isn't to be confused with enthusiasm or joy, but it's there and blazing strong.
I'm just weird and geeky and intellectual and philosophical and socially under-practiced, but I say it with pride.
I'm currently in Korea for my M.A. in Game Design. Pretty neat, huh? I'm just starting, so we'll see how it goes. As such, I've picked up the K-drama bug a bit, but not as much as getting back to the basics, reading and playing games.
