I see. I play completely differently from the Tournament Scene. I've been playing Casual so often that my entire deck play is to allow everyone to set up their plans for as long as possible. Our games last 30 minutes... but boy... they are epic. I'd never get rid of my decks... all 85 of them.... they're like extensions of my soul. Each one reflects an emotion, thought, ideal, and perspective that I have had.
Epic win indeed! for me it was a Cancel, then I responded with Counterspell, which was being targeted by Countersquall, which I countered with Mana Tithe (the worst counter ever. xDDDD)
Magic's chain only exists as long as you have enough mana. Other than that..... it's amusing. I counter the counter that's countering the counter that's countering my big spell. That's how it went one day for me.
xD. Now that's why I stick to the original... Magic..... Much harder for kids to learn and play. I played pokemon first.. then I up and quit when I saw how cool Magic was.. (seeing a gory black card really changes perceptions.)
Trust me. If kids under 13 years can completely dominate a tournament, then it's for kids. Magi is a little more sophisticated. And it's not as easy to get the good stuff. (Since when does magic release tins with Hardcore killer cards on the front?) Even when I played yu-gi-oh, I ran a fiend deck with two Necrofears, Raviel lord of Phantasms, and the Wicked God Cards
