About
I am a twenty-year-old from California, though I now reside in a boring little town in Louisiana where nothing interesting happens. In my spare time, which I have a great deal of, I enjoy writing short stories and novels. My name is Jake Marlin or Lucas Black, Mitch Harvard or Jason Hawkins, Marx Halberd or Felix Riboruba. Whichever you want to call me is fine. The real me doesn't change no matter my name, so it's not very important.
I am a bit of a gun nut, and although that is sometimes considered an insult I never thought of it as such. You know how there are car guys and computer nerds? Well "gun nut" is the general term for one interested in the mechanical inter-workings and art of firearms. We are also often interested in current and past military events and the equipment used in them from tanks to aircraft to field supplies.
My finished novels are "Heavy Storm" a rather trite and ridiculous thriller set in a New York City where it constantly rains. And "The Eighth Red Mark", a murder mystery. I also got my 50,000 word goal for NaNoWriMo 2010 which I named Carbon Fiber but haven't panned out the ending for yet. I'm not working on a little story that's kind of a Ghost in the Shell/The Matrix experiment. Not exactly a fanfiction of either, but a tangent based on themes featured in those.
My favorite video games are Super Mario RPG (the first one), the first and third Metroid Primes (the second was good, but not great) Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy X, Resident Evil 4, all the Metal Gears, Killer7, Silent Hill 2, 3, and Origins, the recent masterpiece No More Heroes and its sequel, and Fallout 3.
I also have a weakness for sweets, especially doughnuts, taffy, chocolate chip cookies, M&Ms, gummi things, and cheesecake. I also happen to be an occasional cigar or pipe smoker, but by occasionally, I really do mean it.
The gun pictured above is a Smith & Wesson model 686 chambered in .357 Magnum.
