That's why I don't have a TV at home and only get online at public library terminals. It forces me to remain more literate in my orientation. I'm going to start replacing video games with card and board games, too, to help combat the antisocial nature of that kind of entertainment.

Well, you realize we're talking about mostly teens and young adults, who are notoriously shallow, facetious, ignorant, and have attention spans of mayflies. I blame it in part on an emerging postliterate trend in ... I guess you could call it societal evolution. I recently read an essayist who claimed that we're returning to a Dark Ages of illiteracy, and it was a rather compelling argument.

Funny thing is, the more people try to look different ... it's not that they look more the same but they act more the same, which is pretty much shallow and self-obsessed.
