yeah. they have this whole sort of steampunk motif going too so that's fun. like one second it looks like the antibellum south the next it feels like the 1930's then it's like 90's grunge but it all works together somehow.

It's pretty good. it's a post-apocalyptic neofeudal kung fu show with a lot of beautiful artsy moments. I'm enjoying it. only on episode two and there have already been two moments of just lovely kung fuing.

I toasted up some garlic bread crostinis with some melted white cheddar on them. Worked pretty great. curry powder is kind of pricey here. Though I'm doing a curry night with family on tuesday.chicken in coconut curry and pork vindaoloo with jasmine rice and peas biggrin

Click to show.Oh my gosh, I half want to buy something just to get Discworld stamps on my parcel. crying I used to be into collecting stamps and sending mail, so I really want to buy some of those postcards, too. Shipping wasn't as bad as I expected to the US, but I'm waiting to see what else comes out so I can buy many things at once. sweatdrop

Oh man, I didn't know any of those references. I know there is a lot to be said for how clever Pratchett could be with his words, but I've never really understood the full extent of them. He's amazing. I've always appreciated the darn good puns, though. Seeing that website makes me wish there was someone at my college who taught a Pratchett class. There would be so much to analyze. I've been meaning to buy The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld (or whatever it was called) but I'd feel bad if I didn't have all the books to go with it. xd

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Oh, I would love to see Nanny Ogg's cookbook. I think Death and the witches are definitely my favorite characters. Then the Watch would have to be next. I remember reading The Long Earth and not thinking much of it. I like Neil Gaiman separately but yeah, I don't really love their collaborations, haha. I'm just sad there won't be any more new books. Are you currently reading anything by him?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.I'm currently reading The Folklore of Discworld, which is pretty interesting. I want to read the Science of Discworld ones next. I'm just happy/relieved that he wrote so many/collaborated on so many books that there's still so much I can read of him. I think I've read all the Discworld novels, but I actually first got started on his stuff with the Tiffany Aching series.

Honestly, I can't think of any quote by Terry Pratchett's books that is bad. I love his work.

Nice. I'm not a huge fan of westerns, but I can watch em from time to time. Star Trek had a nice little western-themed episode. Worf was sheriff. It was cute. I've heard Ireland is really pretty. It sounds pretty from your description. I wonder if the movie P.S I Love You had done the lovely views in the countryside justice. Have you been in the castle?

Nice! I never had the coordination for using a jump rope and would trip over myself more often than not. I take it radio was a bigger medium, then? Tvs being scarce I can kinda see. The Forrest Gump movie showed Forrest as a kid watching Elvis on tv kinda like that.

There was really a time you had to ask for stuff behind the counter? Interesting. I could see that being done for fresh goods like baked bread. I love a fresh-baked bread! Nothing is quite like it, especially when the bread is warm from the oven. This bagged store factory stuff just isn't the same.

It would have been interesting seeing all the candy jars I bet. biggrin

Me, for a few years I lived right down the road from an old park and museum. I used to play there all the time. The little Osage was actually a nice little museum. I'd get candy at the gas station across the street and play in the park and there were these train cars outside. One of em had a standing platform I liked to sit on as I watched cars go by. The town we were in was fairly small, more of a Native American community. There were old stores downtown, most of which sat empty. Last I saw, the place was growing. Depending on where you are now, those old buildings actually become popular locations for little shops and boutiques. There was this place mom, dad and I would go for pizza too. It was fresh baked pizza. So good!

I kinda miss that little town. It was safe, well except for maybe a shady hair salon house that always smelled of smoke. I think some questionable stuff may have gone on there. Thankfully, I only went in once or twice with a babysitter to talk to someone. Somewhere around Tulsa (I wanna say), there's this really cool, fairly large museum. A rich guy owned it and the zoo attached to it. He probably still does. There were native American artifacts, airplanes hanging from the ceiling, colorful gas station pumps (the expensive, highly collectible kind), even some little moving displays and an Osage theater that sometimes put on cultural shows like dances for an audience.
