Wow! What a fantastic show! It was amazing from the stage, to the music, to the lighting. The cast was stunning. They played their characters so well. I laughed really hard...and I cried really hard. What a great show! Christopher J. Hanke, who just recently took the place of Matt Caplan as Mark, gave a whole new life to the character. He was hilarious! I was doubtful when I first we would have a new Mark, but he was fantastic. Sorry Anthony Rapp, but you have to move over! Because I have a new Favorite Mark! Great Job Christopher J. Hanke and to all the cast of RENT!
How many times can you see RENT on Broadway? Not enough! I was fortunate enough to get tickets for my birthday, but also to try the lottos. My friend, Ashley, and I won once on Saturday and had the world's greatest seats. The saturday 2 PM show (October 7th) was fantastic. We got to see the new Mimi, and saw Haven as Maureen again. Destan blew the roof of the theater with the I'll Cover You Reprise. He put his heart and soul into that and I've never been so touched when I've seen the show. You can't help but sob for Collins. Christopher J. Hanke was Mark, for Saturday and Sunday, and he is, by far, the best Mark I've ever seen. He adds so much to the character and he gets so emotional during the 2nd Act. It's crazy. His and Tim Howar rendition of Goodbye Love is crazy. It's so emotional and you feel horrible for Mark. Those two have great chemistry. Both showings were great. We had a lot of understudies and swings for the show on Sunday, but it was still a great show. Christopher was nice enough to have dinner with us after the show, and he was such a sweetheart. An equally as sweet was his manager. She was so nice and I'm glad she came. Those two really made my night. I don't think Ashley and I will ever forget such a great night...and if we ever do forget...we should be pushed off a cliff.
