I'm worried about kidney damage. The hospital discharge record stated that I had some mild hydronephrosis, which is kidney swelling. The stone removed was nearly an inch long. I have the medical image of the stone removed. My surgeon printed it out & gave it to my husband when I was in post-op recovery. There was no chance of it passing on its own but it was astonishing that it moved out of the kidney & traveled so far down in the right ureter because people generally do not pass stones larger than 5mm because they are large enough to get stuck. Ureter must be stretched or something due to how frequently I get these kidney stones. Might be why my body pushed out the stent that ran from the kidney to the bladder in less than 8 hours after the first surgery on Tuesday. You're definitely NOT supposed to pass the stent like that. It's the first time in 30 years of practice that my doctor has seen this happen.

I swear, you must understand me better than anyone due to your severe health issues too. We both end up in the hospital far too often my dear. *hugs* I hope your week is going well. I love you, ya know! We must have been sisters in a past life.

Gonna call first thing this morning. The only prob is that my urologist is out of town for a few days. Freezing my a** off but my body temp 102.2 degrees. Took a fever reducer. I'm already on plenty of antibiotics too. If things go wrong with THIS stent, a nephrostomy tube will gey put into the kidney to drain urine. Really afraid of that because I'm already in pain.

Things are going badly again after the surgeries this week. Now I'm running a fever even though I'm on a lot of antibiotics. So worried that I'll be back in the hospital again for the third time this week. If I die for whatever reason, I'll make sure Matt logs me in to tell you.And you would inherent everything on my Gaia account.

I love you too kitten! Just got a shot of morphine in my IV line. So dizzy. They also gave me benadryl to counter my opiate allergy. Feeling so sore & swollen. There was a one inch stone stuck in the ureter. Had to be broken by laser & removed. Then they had to bring me back into surgery yesterday to replace my stent because my body rejected the stent after Tuesday's surgery. My body expelled the damn thing & Matt called an ambulance. So here I am, another hospital stay. Been a rough week. How are you today darlin?

Thanks lovey! Was ******** rescheduled for tomorrow. I was in pre-prep, just about to get an IV line put in & the anesthesiologist was like, "Nope, not gonna do this without additional pre-admission testing." I was PISSED. I just went nuts. I left the place cursing & yelling & had to run around to another medical suite to get those additional pre-surgical tests. The whole ******** day was wasted. See, I have medication sensitivities & I have had respiratory issues since I was born. So they made me get a chest Xray & blood work & an EKG just in case. Ugh. I ******** told them about my medical history long beforehand, but they dicked me around by canceling just minutes before they were to operate. Because of my sensitive body they want to do it in a hospital instead of an outpatient surgical center. In case they need to put me on oxygen or some s**t or if i react to the anesthesia. I am so pissed because Matt now has to take another day off work. And we still have to get the new transmission put into the car, which will ALSO take time off work.

Ahh, if I would have known, I have a bunch of leftover meat clubs from alchemy that I would have given you a long time ago if I knew you didn't have one. I hate housecleaning. So boring. But I can't stand things being dirty or cluttered. Sometimes I wish I had a team of maids that I could summon at will. Then I'd have them meticulously clean & organize everything to my liking. But in reality, it's more like:

*washes floors*
Me: OWW! My aching back!

*neatly organizes my desk
*two days later, it looks like a miniature tornado blew through, knocking things all over my desk again*

*puts away all of the dog's toys
*Rissa goes back into her toy basket to redistribute them all over the living room again.*

*Sorts through a bunch of old belongings*
Me:I should put these up for sale on eBay.

*Weeks pass, unwanted stuff still laying around*
Me:I should put these up for sale on eBay...Eventually... Because it's annoying to pull everything out to photograph.

I had a feeling I'd have to go in for this surgery. The other worry though is the transmission on the car. Matt has to take it to the car dealership, but they had no available appointments until this Friday. So now what's gonna happen if we don't get the car back on Saturday or Sunday? I have report for surgery at 9am on Monday. So then we'd have to pay for a rental car in that case. Another extra expense. And he'd also be losing one of his paid vacation days to take me in for the surgery. And his company just switched our healthcare insurance provider not even a week ago. So I'm already worried about what is going to get covered out of all of this.

Oh, & I have had lots of radiation doses since January as well from two CT scans & 4 sets of Xrays. All over a particular stone that's on my right side by my bladder. That hasn't moved at all & seems to be stuck. The other stones in there that aren't on the kidneys need to be grabbed from the ureters to begin with. But that one that has not passed? They are concerned enough to do a cystoscopy procedure before even removing the other stones. You know this is gonna be bad if even after several scans & xrays my doctor needs to use contrast dye to get a better understanding of this beast. I dunno what worries me more when it comes to this surgery, fear of the procedure, or financial worries if this isn't covered by insurance.

*snugs you back*

Not looking forward to next Monday. They have to go in & grab the stones with a scope. And then there's the ones that are still sitting on the kidneys that we can't do anything with yet because they aren't obstructing anything at the moment. But those ones my doctor might shatter with shock waves near the end of the summer. Right now he's concerned about the ones that are stuck in the ureter & bladder area. crying

I do use skype! Mostly for work, and we just use the IM stuff, not really the vid stuff. I'll PM you my username biggrin
Just a warning, tho, I'm not always actually there even if I'm logged in. I'm usually running around the office, haha. But it'll be fun to hear from you again, since it's probably going to be another few months until I log back into Gaia!

How have you been??? I think last time I was here, you were moving? Hope all went well!

This is why I'm so bitter when it comes to the medical & dental insurance companies. They don't care about what is best for the patient. They only care about maximizing profit. Yes, they need money to run the companies, and yes, medical & dental facilities are expensive to run. But...The patient's well-being should be first priority. Nobody should have to be exposed to undue suffering or long term complications because they won't financially cover a procedure that has long term benefit for the patient.

Remember last March when I was in the hospital with that severe infection? The insurance company & the hospital kept dicking us around over the bill, which was supposed to cover the expenses.

That's super crappy. Especially since dental fillings tend to be cheaper that surgical extractions.

My gosh you both have it rough when it comes to your immune systems. crying Someday I wish a cure will will be found to help both of you. With your dental bill they are making you pay $50 a WEEK?! That's crazy! Here in America if you were financially struggling you'd be able to pay a payment of $50 a MONTH, not a WEEK. That's a lot to take from somebody on a weekly basis, especially from somebody who has a life threatening medical condition. Are there any charitable dental programs where you live that would help you pay your expense? I wonder if a gofundme account could help you out even.
