Alexandra Diana Belikov was born on December 12th, 1730. She was the daughter of wealthy Russian aristocrats who worked directly beneath the Romanov imperial family. Due to their wealth and connections, Alexandra was able to study ballet with some of the finest instructors, and became one of the first twelve girls and boys to study at the Imperial Theatrical School (now known as the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet).
Throughout her life, Alexandra was thought to be one of the prodigies of Russian ballet. She excelled in all that she did, dancing with the Imperial Ballet until she was twenty-four years old. On her twenty-fifth birthday, Alexandra announced retirement for unknown reasons. Two weeks later, she was reported missing. Her family never found her.
Alexandra did not reappear again until the 1800s, working under the name Katharina Laine alongside famous dancers such as Anna Pavlov with the Imperial Ballet once more. It was during this time that Alexandra began to be recognized by Russian locals for what she was--a vampire. However, these claims were quickly quieted when Alexandra once more disappeared. She has not been seen in the public eye since.
