AboutHello and welcome to my profile,
Since this is an about me section, I better say a little about me:
I'm in my early 20's, I live in northern California, people say "hella" here, myself included. I love where I live even though there are many hippies and yayhoos in my area. I don't mind, you get used to it.
I am currently employed in child care. I love working with kids, it's probably because I'm a big kid myself. Seeing children learn new skills and about the world around them is incredibly rewarding. I can't see myself doing anything else with my life.
I've gotten back into Magic the Gathering as a hobby, I also play video games, shooters, RPGs, puzzle games, just about anything that seems good. I really like to read fantasy novels, and while campy and downright silly at some points, Conan the barbarian stories are a guilty favorite of mine. I enjoy going out with friends and I love to be out in nature. I also love robots and mecha of all kinds. It's a childhood obsession I have retained into my adulthood, however I do not collect or build models.
I'm sarcastic and can seem like a jerk, so if that's the vibe you get from me sorry in advance. Don't let that dissuade you from trying to get to know me though as I can be friendly and civil.
I've been on this site for a long time, at this point all of the friends I had started Gaia with have quit the site, most I have even lost touch with in real life. This account almost feels like an artifact of my younger life.
I feel like it's also a kind of curse
No matter how much I think "this site is for kids," or "it's too nerdy and weird" I keep coming back.
I've been on since the end of 05 and have seen this site go through a lot of changes. There have been many cool and interesting things that Gaia has released in the past that were a pleasure to experience. But recently things have started to take a dramatic shift more towards profit for Gaia than for focusing on free and fun content for users. I don't know where this will lead the site as a whole but I can't imagine that it will be anywhere good.
And yet I'm curious as to where it will lead. Will this massive bubble of inflation collapse, or will prices continue to skyrocket? I'm no economics major, but it doesn't look like the current marketplace will be very friendly to new users.
At any rate, only time will tell.
And I suppose I will stick around until the end.
