Hey Airus Luna.

You're welcome.

I got a chance to play played Space Blob Blaster tonight, and here are my thoughts:

1. I felt that the game window was very small. A larger window, about twice as larger would provide a better view. Nonetheless, I did like playing it.
2. There are no boundaries that keep the player's blaster on the screen, as the player can move off either side of the screen and get lost.
3. The blobs can appear right next to you, making it impossible to avoid them. Perhaps restrict new blobs to the two three quarters of the screen.
4. I'm guessing that the chosen direction of the blaster's shots (up, diagonl left or diagonal right) is random? (:
5. Like Gaia Gold Rush, this game could use some sounds, especially sounds for firing, getting killed, collecting items, and blowing up things, especially blowing things up. cool
6. The same grace period concept would be helpful here, so the player doesn't lose multiple lives very quickly.
7. I like the heart power up, as this gives you more lives, and keeps you in the game longer.
8. After you get so far, you could probably add like a bigger blob that appears by itself, that takes lots of hits to blow up. Then, it finally blows up into a bunch of the smaller blobs, then if you kill them, you win the game. Sorry, just a crazy idea I had. (:
9. Consider allowing the blaster to auto-fire by holding down the space bar, so people won't ware their finger out pressing it. (:

It got really interesting when you collect the green item to make a new blow appear. My highest was 6 (might have been 7) blobs and 22 points.

"YOU DEAD" Haha, nice! I have a college who likes to say the exact same thing in his games! rofl

Glad to hear about your friend, too.

Scripting/coding will always be more versatile and powerful than the drag and drop interface, but the latter does server as a good way to prototype things, or to get a idea of the general concepts involved in game design.

Sorry if I seem to go overboard.
Nice game here. I hope you continue to improve your skills as a game designer and a developer. 3nodding

Hey.

You're welcome and no worries. We all have to start somewhere, right? wink

So, I played Gold Rush Demo and completed it. Nice maze you have there. Here are some things to consider if you ever consider working on it, or another similar game.

1). The movement was really easy, but consider making making sure that movement is aligned directly on the tiles. Here is an image that illustrates that. On the left side, I made some adjustments. You'll see that the top and bottom passage ways force you, for example, to be aligned on those rows of tiles. At the same time, the far left side, still allows some open space if you wanted it, and still able to center the gold items.
Also, the character would only be able to change direction when they are directly over a new tile (think "snap to the grid" type of movement).

2). Sometimes, the enemy gets stuck when he is changing direction.

3). Add a short intro (really serves as a delay), such as "READY!" when before the game gives control to the player. During one play, the game suddenly started, and the enemy moved straight down towards me. The delay gives the player a quick moment to see the map before play actually starts.

4). Similar to (3), when you die, don't immediately restart play. If the player dies near their starting point, when their next player entity spawns, that one immediately collides with the enemy, and it dies too. You can consider one of two things:

a). Add a short delay, then spawn the next player entity, but give the player a few seconds on immunity (a "grace period" wink , and during that time, the player can not be harmed. You may have seen in other game,s where the player will flicker for a few seconds after getting hit or something like that. This method allows the game play to go uninterrupted when the player dies, but still giving them a fair chance at trying again; or

b). Simple stop game play for a moment, and reset the player and enemy. Coins already collected will not reappear. Using this method, you'd use the idea intro delay idea previously mentioned. Attention spans of most gamers these days probably aren't long enough for this one, even if it is a few seconds, so option (a) might be better and perhaps easier to implement.

5). I like the polish added to the player's character by making it animate when it collects gold. Consider adding a sound effect too. Another sound effect when the player dies, or when the enemy teleports.

I think that's it for this one. Just a few things to keep in mind to make a more intuitive game.

(Note: the image will probably be taken down after a few days. If you missed it, please let me know.)

Thanks much, miss.

FYI: I am a game programmer, and code Flash games for a living as a freelance contractor; two of my own games were sponsored. I do not use Game Maker (at least not anymore, so I probably wouldn't be of any much help in it directly; I forgot how to do pretty much everything with it sweatdrop but I have played around with its script language before. Thus, if you're into scripting, I can probably help with general programming concepts or game design.

I will check out your other game soon.
Good skill.

Hey.

A while back, I posted in your thread about the Gaia Gold Rush Demo game you made. Back then I wasn't able to play the game, because I only had Windows XP 32-bit, but now I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and I was able to successfully install and play the game. If you are still interested, I can give you some feedback on the game.

I also noticed you had a game called Space Blob Blaster. I will try that one too, and get back to you if you want.

Either way, good luck skill in your game development endeavors, soldier.
