It is. I still respect people who do buy recasts. It's their decision. I would anyways still buy the real deal, the legit doll. I don't want to support a thief, I wan't to support the real artist/company of the doll.
As a "beginning" artist (i still have a long way to go untill i can call myself an Artist with capital A), I wouldn't want to have my design stolen and others getting profit from it.
Some weeks ago, at a convention for dolls I met this woman (she was mature) who only buys recast dolls. When I said I respect her, but only buy legit dolls, she looked like she was mad AT ME for buying legit dolls.
I mean, when she got her doll out of her pocket she said softly "its a recast", as if she was almost ashamed. And then she gets "mad" at me? ******** off girl.
She also complained about "how she has to buy clothes from the thrift shop, and she surely isn't going to spend a lot of money on clothes for her dolls"
Why not? First at all, nothing is wrong with clothes from the thrift shop? And spending less money on clothes for your own can mean more money to spend on dolls...?
I cannot follow her logic, at all. I think it was very selfish of her to judge me for wanting "legit" dolls. Yeah, I know I'm only 16, but I know i'll have dolls forever. And yeah I know I maybe cannot buy every 6 months a new MSD sized doll, but that's ok. I can wait. I can wait for the legit doll instead of buying a recast.
Still I think I do would buy a recast secondhand from a dolly collector who sells it. Because, I don't know. It's still interesting to see the difference's in quality, poses, details, etc. And in that way you don't "support" the recaster.
My friend accidently bought a recast some days ago, and she told that to me. I do think she's right, but you kinda do still support the recaster in a way. But she then also said that, because of the recast dolly she now knows that it is a fun doll and that she will buy more legit one's.
Idk, I wouldn't directly place an order at a recaster itself, though.
oh, i get it.
yeah, i love making clothes and sorting out fabrics.
Recasts are... "fake" dolls. They are made from the legit/real deal and well the recasters make new dolls of them with cheaper/worse reisin.
How can't you know about this? it's kinda a big deal in the hobby.
I follow arts at school, and, our assignment now is sewing. (with machine and without). It makes my hands itch, I want to sew for my dolls.
My sewing machine is a bit broken, so I'll have to get it in for repair.
Because 6 sewing machine's for 14 peopl in class... that's just too little. I won't mind carrying my sewing machine day in day out at school. Plus, I can work in peace at home too for the assignment.
