Hello Gaian!
First of all, congratulations on finding this page! It’s very rare for me to get visitors, you know, given my bad habit of always lurking and never posting. That’s not to say I’m not happy to see you, though! Really! I love meeting new people and chatting with others. In fact, I hope you stick around so I can get to know you a little.
Let’s see... My username is Ablation, and I’ve been a member of this site since mid-2005. I’ll be twenty-one this spring, but I don’t drink or gamble so it’s really nothing more than an age marker. Although, I don’t really act my age very often (it’s usually swings widely, from seventy-some cranky grandma to kindergartener cracked out on sugar), so I’m not entirely sure that it matters much anyway.
I live in the Southwestern desert of the United States and am currently attending university at one of the largest schools there. I’ve chosen to major in Conservation Biology (with the intent of going into taxonomy) and might choose to pick up a minor in Religious Studies before I graduate. I also work at my school in the main branch of the library within the Archives and Special Collections. This means I get to retrieve and handle all the rare and valuable manuscripts that are kept away from the general public in order to preserve them. Yes, you may be jealous now.
Some of my favorite things in the world are exploring and learning about different cultures and their corresponding histories, which has the added bonus of making me a well of utterly useless trivia. Of course, this interest definitely includes trying all kinds of various cuisines! I love cooking in general, actually, and take great pleasure in learning how to make different dishes and desserts from scratch.
I enjoy gardening too, though I appear to have a kiss of death instead of a green thumb. Seriously, I managed to kill mint by tenderly caring for it. I’m not even sure how that happened. Mint is like the bunnies of the plant kingdom- you can’t eradicate it because it just keeps popping out babies. Of course, I kill grass too...
Hmm...
Hey, drop me a line if you ever need your lawn taken care of in a permanent fashion- I’ll come sit on it for a few hours, which should do the trick nicely. I promise I’ll keep my rates reasonable too, so order now!
Anyway...
More than anything, though, I love to write. Character crafting, drawing sceneries, putting together playlists to go along with my storylines, you name it I enjoy it. At some point in the future I hope to try and publish the things I’ve written, perhaps after I’m done with school, but we’ll see. I know I have a long way to go with my writing before I ever reach that point. Which, then, brings me to my next point. I love to roleplay. I try to do at least a little roleplaying here on Gaia every night before I go to bed, so if you have an idea or know of a good thread, please let me know!
Well, that about does it! If you’re still reading, then thank you! I’m glad this hour of writing didn’t go to waste. If I haven't scared you off and you want to chat, please feel free to message me! I'd love to hear from you.
