My dad broke his leg and they were thinking about putting a metal rod in to hold it together but then he got MRSA from the hospital (probably) so putting a metal rod in is out of the question (MRSA can hide in metal parts forever...). sad In fact he STILL has MRSA even though he was diagnosed back in September. It's because of the fixator being on there since MRSA hides in the metal. So even if they do cure it, when the fixator comes off the MRSA might reemerge again. Arg. It's a pain to have especially the PICC line but my dad is use to it by now...
