I have logged in after being off Gaia again for some months. Apparently my brief spree of giving things to people I picked, even months later I get the occasional profile comment asking me for things. Crazy!
I had fun giving items to people who had been questing for a long time and then surprising them with it. While I was doing that I asked people to try to be nice to others in the future too.
One person asked me for something pretty "expensive" (in Gaia gold). It was much more Gold than I had on-hand. I calculated it and found I could buy it for them, if I sold a very nice item I have that I
did not, and do not, want to get rid of... but I was considering doing it as a nice thing. That was the point, right? Doing nice things for people I don't even know, or owe anything to, to show people that it can be done and they can do it too.
But I thought about it for a bit and realized I should probably at least read their profile or something before doing this.
I'm really glad I did. I found some things on their profile that, frankly, disgusted me. I will not identify this person, but two of the things on their profile that bothered me most were (I will try to paraphrase for their privacy) that they wished "retarded" people were all dead, and that they hate
people in wheelchairs for getting in their way on the bus.
In a continuation of my desire to be generous, I'm going to
assume that people can read that above paragraph and figure out why I have not given any more items away to people I know nothing about. : )
