Hey there! You've inspired me to try inks once again, after I got tired of the same old multiliners. I'm almost set on buying those W&N inks, but what would you recommend for the nib/pen/quill/thing to actually draw with? I've got this bamboo pen sitting in my cupboard; is that suitable? Or should I get proper calligraphy-like pens?

Thank you for your comments in the Digital vs. Traditional thread. I do enjoy that pic of Lesley that you faved, but it's one of my practice pieces. It's not developed to the point that I am happy with, and when my professor displayed it for the other students in class, he also stated that it was a "sketch" and not developed - that I would have to continue working on it for it to be a finished artwork.

I may have made a mistake by not including my years-old work in my gallery, including landscapes in watercolor, piles of leaves in graphite and portraits upon portraits - self and others - in charcoal, which show my "ability" in the realm of naturalism and traditional media. I find them BORING, and I am working on new and contemporary looks in art now. I am a huge fan of many Superflat artists, but I am also working to make my own look. Yes, I recognize that people hate it, just like they hated Andy Warhol, just like they hated Roy Lichtenstein, just like they hated Jackson Pollock. The hate didn't stop those artists, and it's not going to stop me. The style I'm working in now is still developing, but I have gotten A LOT of positive feedback from all of my professors on my art - including one who specifically stated that she likes my digital art because it's 'not like most digital art, which is just crap pretending to be a painting or photo, but has no substance.'

Anyway, I decided to thank you here, because I wasn't able to PM you, and a friend of mine who saw that thread last night advised me to just leave it be. She and I know that people were just trying to "help" me, but it was quite obvious that we're all decidedly set on our methods and aren't going to budge, so there's no point continuing a circular argument. smile
