John Kenneth Galbraith Wrote:
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Stanley Milgram Wrote:
When an individual wishes to stand in opposition to authority, he does best to find support for his position from others in his group. The mutual support provided by men for each other is the strongest bulwark we have against the excesses of authority.

William P. O’Connor Wrote:
Footnote: Appallingly, the death count is never accurate because lives are affected that will not show up in the statistics. Case in point: while visiting a Veterans Hospital this Memorial Day, I was admitted to the room of a young man who has been back from the desert of Iraq for three years. He tried unsuccessfully to blow his brains out, and is now a virtual vegetable. His 86 year old mother takes a three hour bus ride every other day to his bedside in the hope her boy might recognize her. As of yet, her prayers have not been answered, but she has never missed a visit.

Author’s Note: I was reluctant to relegate this tragic story to a footnote, but then realized of course that all of the dead will end up here -- in footnotes. It is fitting that this boy’s story should be buried among his brothers’.

Malcolm Forbes Wrote:
Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.

Paul Craig Roberts Wrote:
The total lack of rationality and competence in the White House and the inability of half of the US population to acquire and understand information are far larger threats to Americans than terrorism.

Peter Alexander Ustinov Wrote:
In America, through pressure of conformity, there is freedom of choice, but nothing to choose from.

Walter Lippmann Wrote:
We are quite rich enough to defend ourselves, whatever the cost. We must now learn that we are quite rich enough to educate ourselves as we need to be educated.

Richard Cardinal Cushing Wrote:
Let America realize that self-scrutiny is not treason. Self-examination is not disloyalty.

Ami Ayalon Wrote:
Those who want victory against terror without addressing underlying grievances want an unending war.

Ron Paul Wrote:
Since 2001, the dollar has been devalued by over 60%. But in 1934, FDR devalued the dollar by 41%. In 1971, Nixon devalued the dollar by 7.9%. In 1973, Nixon devalued the dollar by 10%. These were momentous monetary events, and every knowledgeable person worldwide paid close attention. Major changes were endured in 1979 and 1980 to save the dollar from disintegration. This involved a severe recession, interest rates over 20%, and general price inflation of 15%. Today we face a 60% devaluation and counting and yet no one seems to care.

Family had chicken from Costco, salad and baked beans. I had Jenny Criag. Penne Pasta.
Though my sister made an appetizer first, baked sourdough bread with cheese and tomato halves and sprinkled with basil. Always yum.
And now I'm snacking on dark chocolate covered pomegranates for a quick desert. biggrin
*offers you some?*

20 Shades of Crazy

It amazes me that the group which most strongly identifies as pro-life in America -- the Republicans -- are willing to deny people their own lives for the sake of their dollar. If abortion groups suddenly started to give them dirty money, would they start supporting that, too?

The words I had to fill out were: six-way impishly

O___o;;
