Madam Dejection lived a quiet life in the quant town of Tamridge (Ta-m-ridge) just north of Maronston (Mare-on-stun). For many years a war waged between the two towns yet this did not affect her as she kept to herself and did little to help either side. She simply sat on the side lines and watched, with great delight, as the two sides picked away at each other till there was literally nothing left of the two towns.
As the war began to dwindle and the sides began to fall Madam Dejection was visited by a strange man. He did not give his name but simply stated he had been sent by a higher power and was in need of her help. Madam Dejection was not accustomed to helping those in need and the idea did not appeal to her. He stated he needed her help to stop the war between the two towns. Madam Dejection ignored his pleas and stated it simply did not concern her. She rudely shooed the man from her home and did her best to forget he visited.
Shortly after the stranger left Madam Dejection was plagued with nightmares. They were more terrifying and more real than anything she'd ever experienced in her life. Night after night, day after day her mind began to go. She desperately needed relief, she needed to rest her mind or her body would simply stop to function.
On the thirteenth sleepless night the stranger returned, although he did not return alone. With him were three figures, one held a vial with a liquid as pale as snow in it, the second held chains in his hands, and the third hid his face beneath a thick cloak although she could see a round halo like disc clenched in the thirds fist.
The stranger looked grim and Madam Dejection was too distraught from her lack of sleep to shoo them from her stoop. Before anything could be said the three new strangers descended on the poor Madam Dejection.
Her skin was coated with the white liquid, burning her of any healthy skin color. Chains were latched to her wrists, holding her to the ground. Screams carried her from mouth but only for a moment. The third placed the Halo above her head and suddenly her vision was gone and her voice engulfed by silence. She felt her skin tear and ripple and she pulled desperately in pain but nothing could free her.
The three stepped back and gazed at Madam Dejection. Her once beautiful face was no more only a dark void that flashed purple sparks remained, her skin pale as a ghost, her body held by the chains. The first stranger stepped forward and admired their work. He gazed at her for what seemed like hours before speaking.
"Ignorance is the vilest attribute a human can have. You Madam Dejection have been deemed to ignorant and cruel for humanities own good. This is your punishment, and let anyone that looks upon your disfigured body see what happens to those who are wicked."
