If it's childish to believe in this, so be it. I'd rather be considered a child than follow a doctrine of cynicism, chaos-apathy. -Edward Elric

Rekki[re-key]: Not much to say about myself. I get online as much as I can. I'm still a kid deep down. LOL. I love my boyfriend even if we do get into a lot of pointless arguments.
I'm terribly inactive and lazy, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever
be a director with the slow motavation I have. I can be friendly or bitchy depending on how you approach me. But either way
I know we'll be good friends. <3

I don't have to take two languages. I just want to because I'm interested in language and my goal is to become fluent in at least 2 or 3 languages other than English, but that may have to wait a while. For the International Studies major specializing in Development, I need 10 credit hours of 200-level classes or higher in a language approved of by the major or complete a minor or double major in it. I am about 4 classes away from a Spanish minor and my crappy speaking ability is driving me crazy. I think I need to study abroad and hopefully I'll become fluent.

So... at least here at Ohio State, it really depends on your major how many language courses you need to take. A lot of humanities scholars need to take up to the 104 level in a language. Most math and hard science majors don't need to take one at all. We can take foreign language tests at the begining of the year and it places us in a class level and we can get credit ahead of time for our language skills.

Yeah, this is my second year in a dorm. I highly recommend that your first year should be spent in a dorm - it's great! I am still up-in-the-air about whether spending a second year in the dorms is a good idea or not. LOL

I am majoring in International Studies (Development Studies) and Political Science (Comparative Politics) and the goal I'm currently working on is becoming an expert in the politics of developing nations. Development Studies is, in my opinion, the most fascinating field EVAR. It's a general study of the third world, focusing in on the economic, political, and social issues of developing countries and how these three are interconnected. The study ends up involving, not only economics, politics, and sociology, but history, cultural anthropology, language, current events, etc... Comparative Politics is self-explanatory, as it is simply the study of different types of political systems and how they compare to each other, how effect each is at what, etc... So by combining these 2 studies, I feel I will be able to look at the political systems of developing nations and predict what may be the best choice politically for a nation, why something is not working in the current system, and so on and so forth...

But I have a long way to go if I want to be considered an expert at anything. So after I get my BAs in those two fields (and my happy little Spanish minor that I'll be studying abroad to complete next year) in *crosses fingers* three more years, the plan is to *crosses fingers again* get with the Peace Corps and basically go wherever the hell they put me, because I'll honestly go anywhere. I'll probably learn another language and get some great real-world experience doing something useful in a country that fascinates me. After I get back, I may try and find some work, and then get on with getting a Masters degree in Political Science or International Relations. This should take about two years, so I'll hopefully *crosses fingers AGAIN* have that done by the time I'm 26 pr 27, at which point I'll work on getting my Ph.D. If I get this before I turn 30 I will re-learn back-handsprings so I can do them after graduation. LOL At that point I better as hell be an expert. I will then put this expertise to the test by trying my best to improve the quality of life in developing countries. Good timez. Working for the United Nations Development Fund with random NGO interests on the side sounds like fun. I keep contemplating entering American politics, but American politics are making me cringe lately. So much nastiness and we've got more wealth than anyone else in the world. Still, if I am President of the United States for just a few years, I could pretty much meet with whoever the hell I damn well want to meet with - and make them at least acknowledge me. And the book deals and speaking engagements could make enough money to power my own NGO or heavily augment another one. Still... the chance that an agnostic female with a specialization in the developing world making it to Pres is pretty damn low. So I'm not counting on that one.

Yeah. So that's what I want to do with my life. That and become wise.

College as a whole has not been easy this quarter. I think it will become easier the more classes I take that I am interested. I got a C in Earth Science 100 but and A in International Studies 215. The good thing about college is that you do get to choose your classes and as time goes by you will be in more and more classes that are related to your major which will make college enjoyable, even if it's still a bit challenging. The hardest part of college is time management most of the time. I could probably have gotten an A... wait who am I kidding? LOL. I might have gotten a B in Earth Science if I had spent all that time I was hanging with my friends and obsessing over African Studies and Political Science more than I needed to. But so is life. Today I was at the gym for an hour, thinking that at 9pm I would pack up and got back to my dorm to study and have an early night when my friend called saying that her grandmother died today. So I ran over to her and now it's midnight and I still haven't started the 15 minute Spanish Presentation I have to give next week. Or tonight's Arabic homework for that matter. (I swear I just checked my PMs and stuff on Gaia, I swear! xd )

Overall, the easiness of college depends on several factors: the college, your classes, your professors, your interest in the subject matter, and your time management skills.

But college is fun. It's gotta be more fun then the most jobs. And it's certainly more fun than living in a war-torn country some ridiculous little white girl in Ohio is obsessing over the failed political system of because she's crazy and read too may books when she was a kid.
