hardtack (the civil war song)
Let us close our game of poker, take our tin cups in our hand
As we all stand by the cook’s tent door
As dried mummies of hard crackers are handed to each man.
O, hard tack, come again no more!
CHORUS:
‘Tis the song, the sigh of the hungry:
“O, Hard tack, hard tack, come again no more.”
Many days you have lingered upon our stomachs sore.
O, hard tack, come again no more!
‘Tis a hungry, thirsty soldier who wears his life away
In torn clothes—his better days are o’er.
And he’s sighing now for whiskey in a voice as dry as hay,
“O, hard tack, come again no more!”
— CHORUS
‘Tis the wail that is heard in camp both night and day,
‘Tis the murmur that’s mingled with each snore.
‘Tis the sighing of the soul for spring chickens far away,
“O, hard tack, come again no more!”
— CHORUS
But to all these cries and murmurs, there comes a sudden hush
As frail forms are fainting by the door,
For they feed us now on horse feed that the cooks call mush(mush!)!
O, hard tack, come again once more!
FINAL CHORUS:
‘Tis the dying wail of the starving:
“O, hard tack, hard tack, come again once more!”
You were old and very wormy, but we pass your failings o’er.
O, hard tack, come again once more!

http://www.uri.edu/artsci/his/mua/alabama/alaimages/placeholder.jpg = CSS Alabama
Roll, Alabama, Roll!
In eighteen hundred and sixty one,
Roll Alabama, roll
The Alabama was begun
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
She was built in the town of Birkenhead
Roll Alabama, roll
Built in the yard of Jonathan Laird
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
Away down the Mersey she rolled one day
Roll Alabama, roll
And across the "Western" she ploughed her way
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
With British guns, oh, she was stocked
Roll Alabama, roll
She sailed from Fayal, in Cherbourg she docked
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
But off Cherbourg the Kearsarge lay tight
Roll Alabama, roll
Awaiting was Winslow to start a good fight
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
Outside the three mile limit they fought
Roll Alabama, roll
And Semmes escaped on a fine British yacht
Oh, roll Alabama, roll
A shell from her forward gun that day
Roll, Alabama, roll
Shot the Alabama’s stern away
Roll, Alabama, roll
The Kearsarge won - Alabama so brave
Roll Alabama, roll
Sank to the bottom of a watery grave
Oh, roll Alabama, roll

= USS Cumberland
The Cumberland Crew
Oh shipmates come gather and join in my ditty
Of a terrible battle that happened of late
Let each Union tar shed a tear of sad pity,
When he thinks of the once-gallant Cumberland’s fate
The eighth day of March told a terrible story
When many’s a brave tar to this world bid adieu
Our flag was wrapped in a mantle of glory
By the heroic deeds of the Cumberland crew
That ill-fated day about ten in the morning
The sky it was cloudless and bright shone the sun
The drums of the Cumberland sounded a warning
That told every man to stand by his gun
For an ironclad frigate upon us was bearing
High up in the air her base Rebel flag flew
A symbol of treason she proudly was wearing
Determined to conquer the Cumberland crew
Our noble ship fired, huge guns, dreadful thunder
Our broadside like hail on the Rebel did pour
We sailors did look on in terror and wonder
As the shot struck her sides and bounced harmlessly o’er
But the pride of our Navy could never be daunted
Though our decks with the dead and the wounded did strew
And the start-spangled banner how proudly it flaunted
For ‘twas nailed to the mast by the Cumberland crew
We fought for three hours with stern resolution
Still those Rebel-found cannon could never decide
Their flag of secession had no power to quell us
Though the blood from our scuppers did crimson the tide
She struck us amidships, our planks she did sever
Her sharp iron prow pierced our noble ship through
And slowly we sank in the swift flowing river
"We’ll die by our guns!" said the Cumberland crew
Oh, slowly they sank in the dark rolling waters
Their voices on earth will be heard nevermore
They’ll be mourned by Columbia’s brave sons and fair daughters
May their blood be avenged on Virginia’s old shores
And whenever sailors in battle assemble
God bless our banner, the red, white, and blue
Beneath it’s proud folds we’ll make tyrants to remble
Or sink with our guns like the Cumberland crew
Hey Jude
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Hey Jude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah yeah
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude

America: Navy SEAL Alright you cocky nutcase, don`t go off thinkin` your the best of the best, because your not...You can laugh all you want but believe me when I say this, Green Berets are serious competition. Know this, you can`t be better than them, but they can`t be better than you either. You two both have different jobs, each with equal difficulty. The only difference between you two is that the government hates the Green Berets...

The Boys That Wore The Green
the twenty-first of July, beneath the burning sun.
McDowell met the Southern troops in battle, at Bull Run;
Above the Union vanguard, was proudly dancing seen,
Beside the starry banner, old Erin's flag of green.
Colonel Corcoran led the Sixty-ninth on that eventful day,
I wish the Prince of Wales were there to see him in the fray;
His charge upon the batteries was a most glorious scene,
With gallant New York firemen, and the boys that wore the green.
In the hottest of the fire there rode along the line
A captain of a Zouave band, crying, "Now, boys, is your time;"
Ah! who is he so proudly rides, with bold and dauntless mien?
'Tis Thomas Francis Meagher, of Erin's isle of green!
The colors of the Sixty-ninth, I say it without shame,
Were taken in the struggle to swell the victor's fame;
But Farnham's dashing Zouaves, that run with the machine,
Retook them in a moment, with the boys that wore the green!
Being overpowered by numbers, our troops were forced to flee,
The Southern black horse cavalry on them charged furiously;
But in that hour of peril, the flying mass to screen,
Stood the gallant New York firemen, with the boys that wore the green.
Oh, the boys of the Sixty-ninth, they are a gallant band,
Bolder never drew a sword for their adopted land;
Amongst the fallen heroes, a braver had not been,
Than you lamented Haggerty, of Erin's isle of green.
Farewell, my gallant countrymen, who fell that fatal day,
Farewell, ye noble firemen, now mouldering in the clay;
Whilst blooms the leafy shamrock, whilst runs the old machine,
Your deeds will live bold Red Shirts, and Boys that Wore the Green!
