you are sorted into houses based on character, and character is best deffined by your actions.
given a perilous situation, a griffendor will not hesitate to do what he/she feels is for the greater good, reguardless of possible consequences for him/herself.
a slytherin will use his/her cunning to avoid any personal damage and come out on top.
a hufflepuff is basically a griffendor but less glorious and more specific to who they benefit.

a ravenclaw person is not limited to a specific set of values, only that they will asses the situation and decide a planed couse of action that can achieve the same end as a griffendor, work smart and not hard like a hufflepuff, and work for themselves and others as opposed to slytherin who are focused on selfish persuits.
