I never know what to say in these things.Hello, you can call me Jace but I'll answer to pretty much anything as long as it's in good fun and not derogatory. I get called Jacey a lot (not sure why) but also Mr. Quin, JaQ, stalkable, sexy, dude and hey you there!
I'm nineteen years of age and as of the beginning of October I've gone from lining in my long-time home in a little town to an apartment in what passes as a city up here in the largely uninhabited state of Maine. I'm temporarily unemployed for the first time in over three years due to the move. I hope it doesn't last long. *crosses fingers* *sends out applications like crazy*
I don't have a lot in the way of traditional hobbies. I do have some small collections though. I have polished stones and various trinkets. I collect coins (but who doesn't do that) and the most interesting ones are some Chinese coins I literally picked up off the floor at work one day. I also have a lot of spherical objects. Everything from tiny glass marbles half a centimeter in diameter to an excercize ball. I like my actual stone marbles the best and between a bottle of those and a draw full of bouncy balls and kooshes I think I'd choose the marbles. I guess I'm kind of a packrat in real life. >.<
I'm not a sports fan. I have never understood the rules in most of them and just can't be bothered to learn. The only "sports" I can claim to like are swimming, hiking, and kayaking. I'm not into competitive stuff at all but I'd play tennis or badminton with friends as well. I mostly hike, even in the middle of winter through waist-deep drifts of snow, it helps clear my mind.
I really have no artistic ability unless you count coloring. I really like coloring. I can't wait until my nephew is old enough to give me an excuse to color with him. I know. I'm weird. I count myself as a pretty passable writer and it's a dream of mine to get published one day.
I read, mostly sci-fi and fantasy but also humor and interestingly educational stuff such as A Short History of Nearly Everything. I only watch one television show. I don't read manga or watch anime. I don't play videogames because I lack a console but I used to enjoy Harvest Moon, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Dragon Quest (formerly Dragon Warrior).
I also spend an ungodly amount of time on my computer because there's nothing to do in my town and I talk to my reallife friends from highschool online because none of us live in the same area anymore. Which leads me to this:
I joined Gaia August 8th, 2007 on what is now a (mostly) retired account that started with the name Jace Quin but was renamed Writer Jace J. Quinn.
I had a writing mini-shop for almost a year. I wrote a lot of (I think it's bad) smut and WAFF that can (mostly) still be read on AFF.
I stumbled upon Exchanging by accident in late February or early March of 2008 and it's been my home ever since.
Shortly there-after I wrote a Guide to earning gold on Gaia that I posted in the CB and was abandoned later in the summer due to personal issues.
I reached 1 Million pure on June 31st 2008, the same day I received my one and only personal donation of 5k.
I had a Ticket and game item shop for most of the summer of '08 until the late summer deflationary slump of the same year put me out of business.
I then decided to focus solely on Exchanging. After making a bad deal in mid-September on some Bags of fail *cough* I mean Bags of Win I gave all but 500g to a mule account and started on the original Race to Space (the rules and details of which can be found in my journal by clicking here) which I completed in 48 days, successfully turning that 500g into 1 Million gold in pure.
After completing my Race I dubbed around and opened a Perma-thread in the Exchange with the tag HMSSB (you can look it up by searching the tag).
Just before Christmas I finally got highspeed and entered the wide and wonderful world of Vending.
Just after Christmas, with about 3.5 Million gold in pure I decided I wanted to do three things. I wanted to have 10 Million in pure all at once, I wanted to buy a Nitemare Scarf (then worth about 5 Million gold) and I wanted to give away a lot of gold. So I decided to quest for my first 10 Million. Half to give away, and half for my scarf.
Brief interlude. Between Christmas and March I wrote an extremely extensive Guide on how to earn gold that starts with the very basics and brings you up to the level of Vending/Exchanging and even further into the realms of Hoarding. And back to the Scarf/10 Mil quest.
With some skill, some selling of lots of unwanted crap my pack rat-ish tendencies had hoarded, and a heck of a lot of luck, I earned my 10 Million in just two and a half months. By that time the Nitemare Scarf had inflated almost a million gold. I opened the give-away thread regardless.
I bought a Nitemare Scarf a few days after opening the give-away thread for about 5.9 Million gold. It has since inflated even more. Regardless, I am very happy with it and do not regret buying it.
A lot of users were sad about the end of Half Nightmare/ Half Dream and after a bit of dubbing around it resulted this Friend\'s Chat Thread that goes by the name of Secret Dreamers [Nightmare Believers]. The dreamers and believers are my friends around Gaia. The thread is secretly the way to better facilitate people stalking me. But really, it's how I'm organizing invitations to future events and such.
I have recently written two more guides on gaia. One of them is an Aquarium FAQ which can be viewed here. The other is a guide on hoarding and I'm still waiting to get it moved out of the test forum, hopefully that will happen soon and I can post a link.
What am I up to next on Gaia? Well, you can check out my Friend's Chat thread to see what kind of events I might be hosting but other than that I continue to update my Guide and answer economic questions. And, I'm pretty busy. All kinds of things going on. You never know.
