Actually, you know what I JUST realized? It was said sometime in the game, that Aleph was created by the people of Tokyo Millennium, yet... YHWH, when defeated, says that Aleph has "slain thy creator"
... ? Plot hole?
Err, even though Aleph didn't have any powers at all, he still contributed to the plot. Kinda like Yuko(the teacher). But the train guy... was just there. o-o In fact, you could have even learned of what was going without him.
And although Hijiri could be Aleph, I soon proposed a thought that he could be Cain instead(from the biblical story of Abel and Cain). I had thought of this, as sometime after beating Devil Survivor, I decided to look up the other endings, and it was mentioned that Naoya was Cain(and the MC being Abel). Something about Cain/Naoya holding all the sins of people or whatever, because he committed the first murder, upon Abel/MC(the story of his first life being directly based upon the biblical story).
Oddly, Hijiri's story was also VERY similar to Naoya's/Cain's.
What even further leads me to believe this, is that one of the official people of Atlus responded to the Aleph/Hijiri theory as "being interesting". Other than that, he didn't really state the connections between Aleph and Hijiri being official, so he could have really just brushed off that fan theory. I mean, I'm only assuming what I'm saying is right, but still.
That, and the fact Aleph isn't really human. He was created by the people of New Millennium, so I don't think he could really have a soul to be punished with, for all eternity(unless YHWH really did hate Aleph so much that he gave him a soul, but to have it be eternally damned).
So yeah. Hijiri could probably actually really be Cain instead.
I always found it rather weird that the only generic *HUMAN* NPC was the train station guy from the beginning of the game. Everyone else was just shown as either a silhouette, manikin, or a soul.
