They can take a long time, and can be really stressful, particularly if you have children. When my mom finished her Ph D. it was super super stressful for her (she even lost a baby, my tiniest little sister) and she was really unhealthy because she had to spend so much time researching and teaching. Fortunately for us, we do not have the kids. My body is not strong enough to have the babies anyway, so in a way it's good that we decided on this path together, where having little sproglets would make it fifty billion times harder (particularly with my health problems). I will has goats and little deer instead of babies. And maybe I can steal someone else's child when I am an old lady, like the witch from Rapunzel XD.

Critical Theory is a field of that you can find in a lot of humanities subjects, although Bryan is pursuing it in Literature -- which is what he wants to teach in Japan. You can kind of think of it like the Humanities Universal Theory of Everything. It's philosophy, anthropology, critical analysis, semiotics, linguistics and psycholinguistics, and a lot more, all rolled into one often messy package.

I have made him promise me that I can have a herd of dwarf goats when I am older, provided I take care of them myself XDDD

Have you ever seen a miniature driving horse? I just discovered those and man, I am totally weak vs. Imagine going out to see your tiny goats riding in a tiny buggy pulled by a tiny horse XDD.

I will probably have to wait until Bryan retires for muntjaks though :3 He's about to begin his masters->ph. D, and he wants to teach literature at a Japanese university, which means we will be living in a small apartment for a good, long while. His field is critical theory. I can do my work writing anywhere, so I want to support his dream. He wants to be a modern de Toqueville.

I only ever see muntjaks in the zoo, since they're native to asia, I'm pretty certain. But I think there one of those animals you can keep as a pet, provided you get the correct license. They like to live in little herds X3. We also had lots of deer around us growing up. In fact, the state park in our town even had this magnificent white stag, with a huge rack of antlers. He was so gorgeous. It was like a fairy tale whenever you saw him grazing. And I had a pet deer that I fed in our garden. He had a collar and everything. Only our completely stupid redneck neighbor shot him ;_;

I'm alright. I'm sorry to have worried you. I've just felt very inconsequential lately.
