I'd look at buying online. At least here, it's almost always a lot cheaper to buy my music online rather than walking into the store. I'd also talk to my friends and acquaintances and try to borrow and copy people's music. I'm not sure what the exchange rate between euros and dollars is, but the price you mentioned seems exorbitant to me. I usually pay about $20 for a book of actual music, maybe $15-20 for fakebooks and charts. If I can help you chase something down, let me know. I've got one kid that I've set loose chewing around on some Django Rhinehart scores. Yesterday he started on "Djangology," which is one of Rhinehart's things that I like best. Not sure where he's going to go from there, but he's interested in jazz and maybe next year will be able to start picking up gigs. He's not quite old enough for the bar and brewery scene and that's about what there is around here. He also plays a pretty mean Stevie Ray Vaughan imitation, but doesn't much like blues. Kids! Well, got to go mow the lawn, so I'll talk at you later.
Hey Tony. Hope you're doing well. School's almost wrapped up for the year but I'll be teaching summer school this year. We're having class guitar this summer, so that ought to be fun. Had several kids take it during the school year and now they want to try some more advanced stuff without the two talentless children that were holding them back. Finally, something other than Jimmy Buffet and CCR. I'm sure I'll forget on your actual birthday, so let me wish you a Happy Birthday and a most wonderful year.
