I was hungry, once. I remember it as though it were yesterday. I was just sitting around, and out of the blue, Eve tells me that her stomach hurts. Once she mentioned it, mine started to hurt as well, so we took a quick walk to ask God about it, and he said, "Adam, you're hungry. Go kill a pig and eat it."
I invented bacon, you know.
I had a strong pull to get that verse as a tattoo. It has made me feel much closer to God, in fact.
No, they are not idolatry. How could that even be so? It honestly sounds like you're just judging me. I am very close to God and have a wonderful relationship with Him. Me having a tattoo for HIM isn't go to lead me to ruin.
From my own personal research, the ONLY time it can be bad to you is if you don't take care of it, or the needle isn't sterile. If it did anything more (And we're talking about only GOOD places. I would never get a tattoo from a friend), people who got tattoos would be having serious health problems. I can tell you that I am healthier than most people. And that people with tattoos aren't any less healthy than anyone else.
If you're going to sit there and worry about people harming themselves, then you might want to start lecturing people on eating at McDonald's, and people who eat meat with every meal.
It's not toxic. If it was people who get them wouldn't be okay. Tattoos don't harm your body. Someone with a tattoo is going to live just as long as healthy as anyone else.
Yes, but my tattoo HAS a reason. I'm showing God my love for Him. It is for Him, not me, and not anyone else. That verse talks about nothing being able to separate us from God's love. It is for Him, not aesthetics.
And don't forget the verse were Jesus says that nothing that goes in you can hurt you, only what comes out. I don't remember the verse, but if you REALLY want me to give it to you, I can look.
No, that's not why I got my tattoo at all. People rarely even see my tattoo. I don't even mention it. If I'm wearing a tank top is the only time anyone sees it. Because it's not their business. It's mine. And I don't see a need to go around flaunting it. The reason it's in my signature is because of the verse. And you'd be surprised how many non-Christians actually take interest in God and talk to me due to it.
If you want to make an argument about Leviticus and tattoos, then I surely hope that, if you are a Christian (Which, from this debate or whatnot, I'm assuming you are), you follow ALL Levitical Laws.

The bit about the body being a temple refers to harming it. Tattoos do no harm to the body. Unlike things like fast food, which people eat.
