Well although this may sound odd and make me sound triple my age I have a reason~
cat_redface Well when I first returned to Gaia from my hiatus I'd lost most of my friends both in real life and online, and a bunch of other stuff that makes me feel like a mary-sue listing it. Though I found an event, a gifting event. It sounded fun and interesting so I went in.
At first no one noticed I was lurking in the thread, but eventually we started talking. Although the event was halfway through I stuck around and as I did they grew on me. Although I was very very phenomenally bad at being an anon at first, I caught on to my mistakes. And I found a place that was almost like a family.
It's been a bit over two years since I joined them, and we've weathered things together. For bad or for worse, richer and poorer. Everyone has helped each other in one way or another, even if we didn't quite notice at the time. We've weathered storms and pulled each other up again from the falls we faced.
So what's my reason? Well although everyone is busy either with outside events, complications, internet problems, and so forth I want to have a place where they can always come back to. Even though we're an online community, it's like a family. So even if things get hectic and it seems like it'll be ages before we find someone new to help, I'm glad to keep things running. Because I always want to be able to say 'Welcome back' and give a smile.
Because although we're saving and spending gold, on little pixel items that 'don't mean much' I don't think that's true. Because when someone gets a random gift on a bad day, or just a beautiful message it makes you smile. We're not just giving items, we're giving smiles. Happiness, sometimes when someone needs it the most.
I'm glad I met the guild, and I look forward to always being able to say 'Welcome Home'
