A candy store isn't all sweetness and sunshine.
Ok, wow, it's been 4 years now since I've posted. LOTS has happened.

First, I moved back into my house (occupied by a high school friend and her husband before hand), and someone I met through other friends. LONG story short, things fell apart with me, and that married couple, as I'm no longer friends with the wife. The husband is cool though. So me and the other roommate lived elsewhere for another year or two. LONG story short, I kicked her out of my house after I regained it. I am no longer friends with this girl. I have had an attitude change sense. I now give less shits about what doesn't pertain to me. And I don't let people push me around and use me.

For work, a lot of the typical BS still happens with the self samplers, stealers, and general lack of common sense. Between October 2013-January 2014 (at least the first week of 2014) I managed the entire store while the boss was on medical leave. Got a nice pay raise and some recognition. Now when ever district or regional asks for something from the manager, I am included in these requests even though I'm still techincally just the assistant manager. Also due to this time, I worked enough to qualify for medical benefits.

Today specifically,
I get into work to find out we've gotten a second and final notice to correct our address with the city's business licence group. Who knew 2 wrong numbers in an address for space, plus a severly lagging corporate could cause the potential shut down of a store. This will be the 3rd shut down threat we've gotten in the past few years just because SOMEONE isn't on top of things, or getting things done in reasonable time. emotion_facepalm
On top of that, our order was late today. Again. By 4pm I texted the regional manager. She must have been busy all day because no responce. By 5pm I texted the district manager. She replied. By 6pm we finally got a call from the driver. Newbie to the mall. Go figure. I told him where to park, that we didn't have a back door, to break the order down OUTSIDE, and dolly the stuff in through our front door. Then he says "no one told me it was an inside delivery (inside delivery= break down an order and deliver it to the store. Rather than dropping off a pallet and leaving)." So he had to call his dispatch to confirm. 7:15pm and he's finally at the store. ..........And he brought in the ENTIRE pallet. I immediatly told him to take it outside and break it down. What does he do? Pulls it deeper into the store. I told him the last guy who did that got in trouble. What does he do? Keeps pulling it in. Now he tries to get it squeezed past our front display. I can see it's not going to work. He keeps trying. I keep telling him to stop. After arguing for a few minutes, he stops as I tell him. And he puts the pallet down. He refuses to take it outside and do it the right way. So he asks for a dolly. Fine. I pull out ours, and warn him not to over stuff it, that the wheels may pop. What does he do? He over stacks it. The wheel flattens. emotion_facepalm I warned him. Now he has to carry each box one at a time into the back. I talk to the district manager when he leaves (after making sure he takes the pallet base, plastic wrap, and dry ice away with him), and I tell her what happened. I send an email after work expressing my great dissatisfaction with this guy. Little does he know, I'm the one who got the previously mentioned delivery guy in trouble for the same stunt. Oh, the district manager had called as the guy was carrying the boxes off the dolly (after he learned I wasn't joking about the wheel), I had sent a picture over text of the pallet in the store. District asks "....He DOES know he's not supposed to do that, right?" I told her I already mentioned it. Driver got to talk to her. Probably wasn't nice.
He's probably going to hear about this in a few days. Lesson here: Do NOT dismiss me when I give instructions. I may look like I'm 19 and new to the job scene and thus don't know what I'm doing, but I'm 28, been with the company 10 years, and sure as hell know what the driver is and is not supposed to do. I say "break it down outside", guess what? That's what you're supposed to do. Don't do it? You're gonna wish you had.
