Headcanons
(This is how I role play Kurloz. Some of these are merely theories, and some may be a stretch, but. I tend to seek justification for many of the characters I play, so, until I have seen from Kurloz's viewpoint in the comic that any of this is wrong I'll continue to go by it. If you don't like it, you don't have to RP with my Kurloz.)
Physical Related Kurloz is a high-blood, meaning he has a large amount of aggression as well as strength built up inside of him. While he may be the most calm and collected out of the Makaras when it comes to keeping sober, that doesn't mean he's still not easy to put on edge. Kurloz tries to keep a tight hold on his aggression, but that doesn't mean you can't get it spewing out. His strength is far superior to castes below him--as would be needed of the future tyrant over land. That, of course, doesn't make him ultimately superior even if it's meant to.
Kurloz is the tallest of his group. Or, that's how I play it out. Being the highest blood caste on land gives him this advantage.
Kurloz's body structure isn't exactly "bony", but he's not buff either. He's got more of a slender-muscular build. However, his muscles are still rather obvious. He's at the border between pretty boy and rugged.
Kurloz has a high pain-tolerance. It's something he's taught himself to have, not just a high-blood deal. Even if something could be excruciating, he may continue to keep a smile on his face for acting reasons. If he shows any pain, he either doesn't care to show responses to the person delivering it, or you've broken his acting face by possibly pissing him right the ******** off.
Despite keeping a calm exterior, Kurloz is most at all times rather tense. Due to his need to constantly be acting, he tends to keep tense from the need not to mess up. A good massage goes a long way for Kurloz. Give him a massage and you've got a happy mime in your care.
Kurloz's horns are actually really sensitive. He may try to play it off as otherwise, but if you scratch along the base of his horns you'd be sure to note him relaxing rather easily. This being said, his horns are also highly sensitive to pain. Again, this plays into the pain tolerance on how he may react, but merely scratching into his horns is enough to leave them sore for a few days.
For whatever reason you may need to know (groin kicks, violating, or smut), I do the bulge and nook headcanon for default. I can shift to something else if necessary in private role play, but other than that. Nope. Kurloz has a tentabulge and a nook. There aren't any testicles dangling down there. Just because he'd react though, doesn't make it due to the natural human male reaction. There's still a ******** bone there. That, and I don't really do the sheathed bulge headcanon, so you could still be hurting his "family jewel" so to say.
Kurloz is fairly quick with his hands, after going so long having to communicate by sign language he'd have to be.
Kurloz is a mute. Obviously. He chewed off his tongue, so even if he removed his stitches he still can't form words. Since he hasn't spoken in such a long period of time it's strain for him to make any noise at all. That doesn't mean he doesn't do it. He does, to try and express himself more with people. It just leaves his throat sore and scratchy. Soft noises are alright, but if he's ever making a loud noise of sorts he's definitely going to feel some discomfort.
Kurloz has sensitive hands. When I say that, I mean they're one of the things that make him relax--and zone out. Massaging his palms is one of the best methods of comfort you could offer to him.
Religion Related
Kurloz follows his religion rather strictly, putting nothing above it. At least, not by choice. Kurloz wasn't born into his culture as Gamzee was on Alternia. I have a firm belief that Doc Scratch while making the history for Alternia, shaped the Makara's religion into what it is for Lord English. This being said, Kurloz had no idea who the Messiahs or Lord English was, or even had an idea formed about his religion till a little ways before the game started. Kurloz shifted towards the religion after he began receiving the prophecies and the nightmares. It was a little after the first month of receiving these nearly daily that he started to embrace them from the fear they brought onto him. He began wearing the make-up, shifting his language a little more to follow what was instructed of him in the dreams he'd received.
It wasn't until his large nightmare, the prophecy that was the biggest that he actually started acting on his religion through manipulation and acting. This prophecy wasn't just a dream really. It was a command, an order, and a set of instructions Kurloz was soon to start following. This is why when he awoke from the nightmare he released his scream. It was a scream of pure terror at what he would have to do. This is what deafened Meulin and lead to the sewing of his mouth--something that wasn't just out of guilt but "devotion" to the rules he had implanted into his head. He wasn't allowed to speak of the plans, so he chewed off his tongue and sewed his mouth shut. This would leave him incapable to communicate for a while till he learned how to sign. This was the moment things really started occurring in the loyalty of his religion.
Kurloz, again, puts on an act. In reality, he really doesn't enjoy doing what he has to do. While he may put himself on a superior scale compared to many, he will not put himself above the Messiahs (Gamzee) or Caliborn/Lord English himself. He is whipped, and easily put into the "b***h" role when it comes to either of them. He hates it, but he will not fight against it.
Kurloz's religion isn't a secret from his group, but he speaks very little of it to those that would find suspicion in it. For instance, all he does is smile half the time Meenah speaks to him, refusing to converse with her. He doesn't reveal who his "Lord" or the "Messiahs" are to anyone unless he finds them close enough where he'd feel comfortable hinting at it.
There are times where Kurloz may get caught up in his own manipulation, where he may even embrace for a moment that his religion is wonderful. He may embrace the role a little too much at times, forgetting that everyone he cares about is meant to perish. It's not that he's simply embracing it, but more so he's trying to find some way to make his existence bearable at times.
History Related
There was a time that Kurloz had known none of the group, back before he started wearing face paint and before he had his stitches. He was very socially awkward and had a sort of social anxiety. It wasn't until he met Mituna that he started to actually get more comfortable around people. Mituna was the first out of the group he met, and his first friend. He even met Meulin through Mituna.
For the longest time Kurloz had a red crush on Mituna. Of course, this was in play with his pale feelings that developed as well. He and Mituna entered a palerom while he still felt red for him, and it wasn't until Mituna got with Latula that Kurloz began talking to Meulin. He'd been growing fond of Meulin before, but never saw a red attraction to her till he felt he needed to move on.
Kurloz has always had a fondness for things that were more sophisticated--something he thought he needed to be fond of to interact with people without them being disgusted with him. He only began to branch out and touching on games, movies, and anime in general when he met Mituna and Meulin.
When Kurloz's nightmares began he started to suffer from self-induced insomnia. He still suffers with it from time to time.
When Kurloz met Porrim, she convinced him to get gauges. He still has them now. They're of a small size, not large at all.
From the moment in the game that Kurloz met and interacted with Rufioh, he's always been charmed by him. Rufioh's easy going personality made him feel at ease around him--the type of personalities he seemed to be drawn to. Considering he still has a slight social anxiety bubbling up from time to time, it makes him more relaxed to meet people to who are easy to talk with. With Rufioh's easy-going personality, eagerness to shift topics or avoid topics, and care in general to whether or not he makes someone feel uneasy, Kurloz definitely has grown to have some feelings in his general direction.
Skill Set and Interests
Kurloz love music, specifically classical, and formal music. He does enjoy a large variety, but he is exceptionally charmed by this genre. His favorite instruments are the Piano, the Cello, the Violin, and the Harp. He only plays one, the Cello. He desires to learn the Violin next and even knows one, but he lacks the capability of teaching himself.
Kurloz knows how to sign in Spanish, and he knows quite a bit of French as well.
While he's not talented at it, or practices the activity regularly, Kurloz knows a few moves on the skateboard from his early years befriended with Mituna. He stopped trying to keep up practicing when Mituna's incident happened. Refusing to let Mituna's skills at what he loved be lower than his own.
Kurloz can do a number of "circus" acts including juggling and unicycle riding. It's something he learned ironic-ly.
Kurloz enjoys writing several things including poetry and stories. It's been stated he does the black ships in the shipping with Meulin. He has more than one fan fiction he's written for such shipping.
Kurloz does enjoy watching films and reading. Some of his favorite films are made by Disney and Studio Ghibli. He enjoys a number of horror films as well. Musicals entertain him quite a lot.
Kurloz enjoys giving a good scare to his friends and acquaintances. He enjoys coming off as intimidating and superior, as it keeps people from looking down on him.
Kurloz LOVES comedy. He hasn't had a good laugh in a long time with his "condition", but that doesn't mean he doesn't desire to. Jokes and comedy are some of his more favorite interests.
After all the stress Kurloz puts on his shoulders, he obvious seeks some form of comfort that his mentally disabled moirail cannot provide. This comfort is found within his hookah, which he constantly has turned to to stun his emotions. He is actually rather picky with what he smokes or consumes, but he will try a large variety of things.
Voodoos
I play voodoos different than Mind control in general. While they work like mind-control and can leave orders, there's far more to them than that.
Voodoos strike fear naturally into their victims. The moment they've hit your brain, it hits your feelings of fear and draws them forward.
Voodoos can shape memories and even personalities easily. They can form blocks and holes in people's minds.
They can be used for communication.
More times than not, Kurloz paralyzes his victims while holding them with the voodoos. Unless he chooses not to, your memories are likely erased and left with a fuzzy feeling when he's left your mind.
Voodoos can ultimately change a person entirely. For example, Cronus and Damara.
However, I try to avoid using something so power-filled. Kurloz won't use his voodoos unless he absolutely has to, or if its for Lord English's plans. He may idly use it from time to time for personal amusement, but not for anything big such as controlling a person entirely.

Annnd here is where we all learn just how much a manipulative a*****e our friendly neighborhood mime is. While I've stated before that he was given a set of rules to follow, it doesn't exclude him from getting the adjective manipulative or a*****e slammed on him. My Kurloz regrets a lot of what he does, and had little choice in what was to happen. But he still did it. Whether it was his choice or not, which deems him at such a title.
One of the more obvious actions Kurloz has taken into his hands at doing, is handling the Heir of Doom. You see, Sollux heard and saw visions of his session being doomed. He could find the cause of it. He was the Mage of Doom, while Mituna, the Heir of Doom could do the same, it would be easier for him to figure it out. Just like John, he could "become" his aspect. Or, become the doom, he could figure out what he was that was dooming his session in the form of a vision. Whose the only doom to the dream bubbles today? Lord English. Kurloz was the only witness to Mituna's incident. Kurloz had to get rid of the warnings to what was going to happen, for he had a large role in dooming their session.
There is a possibility that hearing messages from your aspect is a Mage class thing, as well. Guess who could hear what was going on in Kurloz's heart? Mage of Heart? Not anymore.
Jake English is the Page of Hope. Hope itself is a powerful aspect to control. Who is the hope player in Kurloz's group? Cronus. Cronus was the Bard of Hope. He had a ton of hope put into magic, and he was an amazing wizard. He had a prophecy that he was destined to take down a powerful foe. This foe most likely being Lord English himself, as its been said before Jake could be a match to him. However, its said that a friend or someone working on the other side convinced Cronus to take the drastic change from his belief in magic to how he is now. I'm sure it's obvious who I'm pointing fingers at here.
Damara was NOTHING like she was before she snapped. She was said to be nice and kind. In fact, when Rufioh first broke up with her she was so sad she kept to herself. She cried, she wasn't angry. Yes, Meenah pestered her, but it's suggested by Aranea she doubted it was Meenah who pushed her to such a drastic change in personality. Who could cause such a drastic change? Kurloz.
